What Is The Bucs Strength Of Schedule For 2023?

The Bucs’ 2023 regular season schedule won’t be out until Thursday but the Bucs strength of schedule for 2023 is already known. NFL Network’s Andrew Siciliano tweeted out the strength of schedule for the entire league on Tuesday.

The strength of schedule has the NFC champion Eagles with the most difficult strength of schedule, while the Falcons have the easiest.

The strength of schedule formula is based on last year’s results with last year’s roster. There are always some surprise teams like Jacksonville and Detroit that rose up in 2022 and finished with winning records after having terrible seasons the year before. And there are some teams that fall off, such as the Bucs, who fell from 13 wins in 2021 to just eight in 2022.

As Siciliano wisely points out “past performance not necessarily indicative of future results.”

Bucs Strength Of Schedule Is 22nd In The NFL

The Bucs strength of schedule is ranked No. 22 with Tampa Bay’s opponents’ winning percentage at .483 (138-148-2).

Bucs strength of schedule

The Bucs strength of schedule is actually the hardest of the NFC South teams. Carolina has the second-hardest at .453, while New Orleans and Atlanta have the two easiest strength of schedules at .427 and .417, respectively.

All four teams in the NFC South had losing records last year. The Bucs won the division at 8-9, while the Panthers, Falcons and Saints all finished with 7-10 records.

A big reason why all four NFC South teams have relatively easy schedules is because that division plays the AFC South, which is another really weak division. Jacksonville won the AFC South with a 9-8 record, but Tennessee (7-10), Indianapolis (4-12-1) and Houston (3-13-1) all finished with losing records.
