The Texans Have Officially Requested to Interview Jonathan Gannon and Shane Steichen

Coaching news affecting the Eagles. The Texans want to take a look at two coaches on the Eagles staff who were responsible for top-5 schemes this year:

Now I sit at the altar of Jonathan Gannon. Not like Kinker. But I think everyone who can look past the lack of blitzing and soft zone coverage can see the numbers this team put up on the defensive side of the ball and understand why Gannon is getting some head coaching looks for the second year in a row. On the other hand Shane Steichen had a really good season calling plays for the first time in his career. There’s a good chance the Eagles will have to replace at least one coach this year and don’t be surprised if it’s QB coach Brian Johnson.

If Gannon does get hired away the Eagles could look at inside LB coach Jerod Mayo according to Jeff McLane:

This puts the #Eagles in play for the DC if Jonathan Gannon was to leave for a HC job this offseason.

Unfortunately for the Buddy Ryan disciples the New England Patriots only blitzed six more times than the Eagles did this year.
