The Figurative Game 3 Toilet Has Already Been Flushed

Let’s check on the Phillies after the Game 3 NLCS loss:

Brandon Marsh was asked how long it will take the Phillies to flush this loss and move on to Game 4.

That’s the right attitude. Not like we expected them to sulk, but still. Proper messaging.

You’re not gonna win a playoff game when you get three hits and score one run, which happens to come on a wild pitch. The Phils were 3-28 at the plate, worked three walks, and struck out 13 times while making Brandon Pfaadt look like Sandy Koufax reincarnate.

Say what you will about Craig Kimbrel, who needed the most flushing after the loss, but the biggest disappointment in my mind is wasting that Ranger Suarez start. He was fantastic again, giving up zero runs, three hits, and one walk while striking out seven in 5.1 innings. Orion Kerkering looked human for the first time ever, but the Phils also have three games in three days, so you’re gonna have to go to all of the bullpen arms at some point. Again, we can litigate that Rob Thomson decision from here to eternity, and wonder if putting a rookie in a high-leverage situation like that made sense, but it all comes back to the fact that the Phils couldn’t get anything going offensively.

Get it all out of your system, come back Friday, and start mashing again.
