We once again have an incredible Saturday of action on the ice. Not only do we have a whopping 14 games, we have early afternoon hockey as well. With so many games to break down, it can certainly feel overwhelming. However, that’s what we’re here for. We’ve taken a look at the entire board and come up with our 3 favorite plays that provide a mega payout. We’re even targeting the first game of the day, so let’s get into it.
Along with our NHL mega parlay, be sure to check out all of our NHL picks for today’s action.
Dallas Stars 3-way ML (+125) over Calgary Flames
The first puck drop of the day takes place in Dallas, which is one of the primary reasons we’re backing the Stars. They’ve been shining brightest on home ice, and should outshine even the Flames today. Despite losing their most recent game, Dallas still leads the Central Division and are just 1 point behind for the Western Conference lead. Although the Flames are coming off of a win on Thursday night, they’ve been very inconsistent this season.
This will also be their 4th straight road game. That’s not good news when heading to Dallas, where the Stars are an impressive 12-4-3. This will likely be a game in which Calgary goaltender Jacob Markstrom specifically has a rough night. The Stars are the 2nd-highest scoring team at home, averaging 3.89 goals per game. Meanwhile, the Flames are scoring the 8th-fewest goals per game on the road. Dallas should be heavier favorites in this matchup, so we’ll take the plus-money on the 60-minute line.
New York Islanders 3-way ML (-140) over Montreal Canadiens
We have another situation where we’re backing a home team coming off a loss against a road team coming off a win. However, wins have been few and far between for the Canadiens as of late. Their recent upset over the Nashville Predators was nothing short of shocking. Even still, they’re just 2-7-1 over their last 10 games and sit at the bottom of the Atlantic Division. Now they have to head down from Montreal to the Big Apple.
The Islanders may have lost their game on Thursday night, but they’re still favorites of greater than -200 for a reason. It was the Minnesota Wild that took them down, and the Canadiens simply don’t have the same kind of offensive firepower. That’s a huge problem when facing New York’s goaltender Ilya Sorokin. Therefore, we’re not expecting many goals, if any, from Montreal. The only reason we’re not going with the puck line is the fact that the Islanders aren’t known for their offensive either. Regardless, this price in combination with our other plays still makes a great mega parlay.
St. Louis Blues ML (+160) over Tampa Bay Lightning
Wrapping things up may be our most surprising play. However, we backed the Blues just 2 games ago as significant underdogs at home and they came through. It will be a tough task tonight facing a great Lightning team, but the Blues have the physicality to take them down. It also may not provide much confidence that the Lightning have already beaten the Blues this season. However, that was a home and they’re much stronger in Tampa.
In fact, the Lightning have lost each of their last 2 road games. That’s not to say they aren’t still a great team, but their goal-scoring just isn’t quite as dynamic. With that in mind, that should allow the Blues to do what they did the last time the Lightning came to St. Louis, which was to pull off a 4-3 upset. When the Blues won that game, they did so by overcoming a 3-0 deficit in the 1st period. Even if they get down early tonight, don’t give up hope in the upset.
