NHL Picks January 9: Edmonton at Los Angeles Featured Game

The NHL season is approaching the midpoint and teams are looking to make a big push before the all-star break. There is a light schedule for January 9 and the Kings hosting the Oilers headlining the action.

Philadelphia Flyers versus Buffalo Sabres

Philadelphia is next to last in the Metropolitan Division and Buffalo is 4th in the Atlantic Division. Both teams enter “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator and Buffalo has a +16 to +11 edge on the Power Ranks Indicator. I like Seattle to continue their roll, winning by a goal or two in a game “over” the line.

Nashville Predators versus Ottawa Senators

Both teams are in the middle of the pack in their respective divisions. Ottawa is “burning hot” versus “average” and +14 to +9 on the Power Ranks Indicator. Nashville has been involved in games “over” the line in each of their last six, but Ottawa has been trending in games “under” the line. Ottawa won the first game between the teams this season as a road underdog. I like Ottawa again by two goals, but pass on the over/under bet.

Edmonton Oilers versus Los Angeles Kings
