The NFL season is underway and week one saw numerous surprises. What is in store for week two with a full slate of games on the schedule? Let’s examine five matchups with the Ravens versus Bengals headlining the action.
Baltimore Ravens versus Cincinnati Bengals
In this AFC North clash, both teams are entering at 0-1. The Bengals got a brutal performance from quarterback Joe Burrow but enter as 3.5-point favorites with odds of 1.620 to 2.358 with an over/under of 46.5. Cincinnati has 61 percent chance of winning the game with a score prediction of 31-28, but with only 38 percent confidence. The Bengals have a +26 to +21 edge on the Power Ranks Indicator. Baltimore won the first meeting between the teams last season before the Bengals won the final two, including a playoff matchup. I like the Bengals to rebound at home in a game “under” the line.
Kansas City Chiefs versus Jacksonville Jaguars
Jacksonville comes in “burning hot” after winning their opener, while the Chiefs were surprised at home by the Lions in a 21-20 loss. Kansas City enters as 3.5-point road favorites with odds of 1.620 to 2.358 with an over/under of 51.5. Travis Kelce missed last week’s game and will be crucial for him to play this week for the Chiefs to have success. The score prediction is the Jaguars to nip the Chiefs, 31-30 but with only 57 percent confidence. Jacksonville is given a 51 percent chance to win, but I have a difficult time seeing the Chiefs starting in an 0-2 hole. I like Kansas City, but won’t be surprised to see Jacksonville cover in a game “over” the line.
Seattle Seahawks versus Detroit Lions
Detroit is riding high after taking down the Chiefs, while Seattle is “average down” after being blown out by the Rams at home. Detroit is 4.5-point favorite with odds of 1.460 to 2.735 with an over/under of 46.5. The Lions have a 63 percent chance of winning with a score prediction of a 43-15 blowout. Detroit has a +27 to +4 advantage on the Power Ranks Indicator. Seattle won a 48-45 shootout last season between the teams. I like the “over” in this one with the Lions coming out on top and covering the spread.
San Francisco 49ers versus Los Angeles Rams
The 49ers looked dominating in their win over the Steelers and come in “average” on the Team Strength Oscillator while the Rams are “dead up” despite a win over Seattle. San Francisco is a huge 7.5-point road favorite with odds of 1.310 to 3.460 and an over/under of 44.5. The 49ers easily handled the Rams in both meetings last season and have a 77 percent chance to make it three straight over their division rivals. The teams have combined in five straight games going “under” the line. I don’t see the Rams putting up a great fight in this one. Go with the 49ers in a game “under” the line.
New York Jets versus Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys look to dismantle a second-straight team from New York after dominating the Giants, 40-0. The Jets are coming off an impressive win over the Chiefs, and like the Cowboys, are “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator. Dallas is an 8.5-point favorite with odds of 1.240 to 4.245 with an over/under of 38.5. Dallas has a 77 percent chance of winning and the score prediction is for a Dallas blowout, 34-16. The Cowboys have won 80 percent of their games as favorites over their last five. Despite the teams going “under” in their last five games, I like Dallas and “over” in this one.
