Footclan, it is an absolute honor and privilege to be able to share my tournament thoughts with you on a weekly basis this season. My goal is to give you an extra resource to use when creating your lineups. I usually play one or two hand-built lineups every week and I’ve had much success in my career playing that way. Each week I’ll discuss my favorite stacks to utilize in large-field tournaments, ways to gain leverage on the field, and any other slate-specific thoughts.
In Week 3 of the 2021 NFL season, I won the Milly Maker and several other six-figure contests on DraftKings. I’ve also been to five live finals where I have competed against some of the best players in the industry. I’m so excited to be able to help you gain an advantage and win some big money this year!
Last Sunday, C.J Stroud and the Texans put on a great show for all of us. Unfortunately for me, while I had him tagged as one of my favorite quarterbacks, I ended up spending down to Mac Jones. Most of you know by now that I’m typically a single bullet player depending on the week, so I didn’t have the luxury of spreading it out. One of the many benefits of playing multiple lineups is you can mix and match with some of your favorite players, and that gives you much better odds of hitting the jackpot. I never have any regrets after the fact, but I try to learn as much as I can from the mistakes I make. Simply put, I will never take Mac Jones again!
Slate Specific Thoughts
After many hours of review, I am very excited about what this Sunday’s slate has to offer. We’ve got tons of value from wide receivers and running backs all the way down to tight ends and defenses. Not only do we have plenty of value, but we’ve got your studs at the top with guys like Christian McCaffrey $9,200 and Ja’Marr Chase $8,600. To top it off, we also have at least three to four games with potential shootout capability, with one that stands out the most.
Game of the week Detroit Lions @ Los Angeles Chargers (O/U 48.5)
If you have followed along for the ride this season, you know I’ve been banging the drums for the Lions to unleash Jahmyr Gibbs. It took an injury to David Montgomery for that to happen, but the rookie running back has finally arrived. With Montgomery back in action and expected to return to his previous role, we’re projecting Gibbs, who is now $7,000 on DK to be less than 3% owned tomorrow. If you’re stacking this game, this is a great way to differentiate yourself from the rest of the field. We may not see 20+ carries, but I don’t think it’ll be necessary for the electric running back to pay off his price in a potential shootout.
