NBA Wednesday parlay at mega (+1291) odds, today 1/4: Mitchell, Cavaliers could have a letdown

Donovan Mitchell of the Cleveland Cavaliers

We are continuing the first NBA week of the 2023 calendar year with a massive 12-game slate on Tuesday. It is headlined by a double-header on ESPN, starting with the Bucks paying a visit to the Raptors before the Lakers host the Heat. Memphis, Phoenix, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Brooklyn and Golden State are also in action.

Here is a look at Wednesday’s mega parlay.

Suns ML (+176)

Nets -4.5 (-110)

Lakers ML (+164)

Parlay odds: +1291

For this 3-team parlay we are going with 1 favorite against the spread and 2 underdogs on the money line. Let’s break down each of the 3 legs.

Suns ML over Cavaliers (+176)

It’s not easy to build on a 71-point performance; and that’s an understatement, of course. It should also be noted that Cleveland’s thriller against Chicago on Monday went into overtime. The Cavaliers – and especially Donovan Mitchell – could be a bit physically and mentally fatigued on Wednesday. Although the Suns are not playing great basketball, they are finally concluding a 6-game road trip and can see light at the end of the tunnel. This far into plus money, I’m more than willing to take a stab at Phoenix.

Nets -4.5 over Bulls (-110)

Break up the Nets! They have won 13 in a row and their current winning streak is their third longest in franchise history. That’s not exactly a surprise, as these Nets are perhaps the most talented in franchise history; they are certainly one of the most talented teams in the NBA this season. Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving are gelling together and 5 other players average at least 8.0 ppg (plus Ben Simmons at 7.9). As for Chicago, it is coming off back-to-back setbacks against Cleveland. The Bulls infamously allowed 71 points to Mitchell in Monday’s 145-134 OT loss. They have gone 7 straight games without producing a leading scorer other than DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine, and only 3 players are averaging in double-figures for the season (DeRozan, LaVine and Nikola Vucevic). It’s hard to see Chicago hanging with Brooklyn given the obvious discrepancy in scoring depth.

Lakers ML over Heat (+164)

LeBron James is questionable for this one because of an ankle issue, but this wouldn’t be the first time that he has an injury distinction but not at a real risk of missing the game. Assuming LeBron can play, Los Angeles should have a good chance of pulling off a minor upset. Russell Westbrook (foot) is probably for the Lakers, while Duncan Robinson (hamstring) is questionable for the Heat. L.A. is coming off back-to-back victories over Atlanta and Charlotte, with LeBron going for 47 and 43 points in those 2 contests. He did so on 66.7 and 61.5 percent shooting from the floor, too. It’s not like he was just forking up shots left and right to get his numbers; he was efficient. Miami has also in the midst of a 2-game winning streak, but it is 3 games into a 5-game road trip and fatigue could be a factor. Don’t be surprised if the Lakers win outright.
