The MLB playoffs are just around the corner and playoff positions are still up in the air. The AL West is a battle with three teams still with a shot at winning the division. Houston heads to Seattle in the headlined game.
Houston Astros versus Seattle Mariners
In the game of the day, the Mariners host the Astros in a game with huge playoff implications. Both teams, along with the Rangers have a great shot at the playoffs. Seattle is “average down” versus “ice cold down” on the Team Strength Oscillator and +22 to +17 on the Power Ranks Indicator. Houston is predicted to win by a 10-4 score with 70 percent confidence, but Seattle has owned the season series, winning eight of the first ten games. Houston has been very inconsistent with regard to their favorite/underdog status. I feel Seattle’s dominance over the defending World Series champions to continue in a game “over” the line.
Arizona Diamondbacks versus Chicago White Sox
Arizona is battling for a wild card spot in the NL, while Chicago is nearly 40 games under .500 and playing out the string. The Diamondbacks have won five of their last six and “burning hot” down on the Team Strength Oscillator. The White Sox have dropped their last three after taking two of the previous three. Arizona is +24 to +1 on the Power Ranks Indicator. Despite a prediction of 11 runs scored total in this game, the teams have been trending on opposite sides of the “over/under” line. I like the Diamondbacks but will pass on the “over/under” line.
Texas Rangers versus Los Angeles Angels
The Rangers are among three teams in the AL West battling for a playoff berth and the Angels are just waiting for the offseason to begin. The teams have split the previous 10 games between them this season. Both teams have been trending in games “over” the line and the score prediction is 7-4 in favor of Texas with 55 percent confidence in the prediction. Texas has been more consistently playing with regard to their favorite/underdog status. There is little to believe that the Angels will pull off a win. Go with the Rangers in a game “over” the line.
San Diego Padres versus San Francisco Giants
What appeared earlier in the season to be teams fighting for the playoffs turned out to be just a meaningless series. San Diego is “burning hot” having won their last eight but are still four games out of a playoff spot, while the Giants are 3-7 over their last ten and three games out. The teams have been trending in games “under” the line and the score prediction is 8-4 in favor of San Diego. The Padres have won six of the ten games between the teams this season. The Padres are only 33-42 on the road and I expect the Giants to take care of business at home in a game “under” the line.
