The MLB season is nearly 20 percent complete and it’s not too early for teams to make a statement in the division and league standings. There are several key games for May 8 with the Orioles versus Rays headlining the action.
Tampa Bay Rays versus Baltimore Orioles
Tampa Bay heads to Baltimore “burning hot” versus “average up” on the Team Strength Oscillator and +26 to +17 on the Power Ranks Indicator. The teams have been trending in games on opposite sides of the “over/under” line and the Score Predictor has the Rays in an 11-0 blowout with 57 percent confidence. This is the first meeting between the teams this season. Both teams are very stable, coming in at +19 and +10 on the Team Volatility Oscillator. I like Tampa Bay but will pass on the “over/under” bet.
Houston Astros versus Los Angeles Angels
In this AL West battle, the Angels come in “burning hot” and the Astros “ice cold down” after losing their last two. Los Angeles has a +21 to +14 edge on the Power Ranks Indicator. The teams have been involved in games “under” the line in seven of the last 12 combined and the Score Predictor likes the Angels by a 7-3 score but with only 44 percent confidence. The Angels have been consistent with regard to their favorite/underdog status, but the Astros have not. This is the first meeting between the teams this season. I like the Astros to get back on track but will pass on the “over/under” bet.
Los Angeles Dodgers versus Milwaukee Brewers
This game features teams heading in opposite directions. The Dodgers are “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator and +28 on the Power Ranks Indicator. On the flip side, the Brewers are “ice cold down” and +16, respectively. The teams have been involved in games equally over and under the line in their last 12 combined. The Score Predictor likes Los Angeles by a 5-2 score with 87 percent confidence. Milwaukee has been very inconsistent with regard to their favorite/underdog status. Go with the Dodgers in a game “under” the line.
St. Louis Cardinals versus Chicago Cubs
Both teams are “dead” on the Team Strength Oscillator and the Cubs have a +4 to +2 edge on the Power Ranks Indicator. The Teams have been trending in games “under” the line and the Score Predictor has the Cubs by a 5-1 margin with 89 percent confidence. Miles Mikolas is scheduled to pitch for the Cardinals. He is 1-1 with a 5.79 ERA and a poor bet at -$145 on the Pitcher Profit Oscillator. The teams have not yet met this season. Chicago is extremely unstable at -5 on the Team Volatility Oscillator. I like the Cardinals on the road but will pass on the “over/under” bet.
Washington Nationals versus San Francisco Giants
Washington comes in “burning hot’ having won three straight, while San Francisco is “average up” after winning their last two. The teams have been trending in games “under” the line and the Score Predictor has Washington by a 5-4 score with 33 percent confidence. The Nationals have a +19 to +11 edge on the Power Ranks Indicator. The Giants are -1 on the Team Volatility Oscillator, indicating that they are not consistent with regard to their favorite/underdog status. I like Washington in a road upset in a game “under” the line.
