The MLB season is approaching the midway point with some surprise teams emerging as powerhouses. There are ten games scheduled for June 19; we will look at five of them. The featured matchup is the Astros hosting the Mets.
New York Mets versus Houston Astros
The Mets come in “ice cold up” after winning two of their last six games. Houston is “average down” after coming off a loss and 3-3 over the last six. Houston has a huge +25 to +4 advantage on the Power Ranks Indicator. The teams have been involved in games “over” the line in seven of their last 12 and the Score Predictor likes Houston by a 6-2 score with 66 percent confidence. Max Scherzer is scheduled to pitch for the Mets. He is 5-2 with a 4.45 ERA and a moderately poor bet at -$28 on the Pitcher Profit Oscillator. Houston has been the more stable team at +9 to +4 on the Team Volatility Oscillator. I like Houston at home in a game “under” the line.
Toronto Blue Jays versus Miami Marlins
Toronto heads to Miami winners of just two of their last six games. They are “ice cold down” on the Team Strength Oscillator and +23 on the Power Ranks Indicator. On the other hand, Miami is 3-3 over their last six, “average” and +18, respectively. The teams have been involved in games even over and under during the last 12 games and the Score Predictor has Miami by a 6-3 score with 33 percent confidence. Both teams have been moderately stable according to the Team Volatility Oscillator. I like Miami at home but pass on the “over/under” bet.
Chicago Cubs versus Pittsburgh Pirates
In this NL Central battle, the teams are heading in opposite directions. Chicago is “burning hot” after winning their last three and Pittsburgh is “ice cold down” after dropping their last three. Chicago has a +12 to +10 edge on the Power Ranks Indicator. Both teams have been trending in games “over” the line, but the Score Predictor has a relatively lower scoring 5-4 game in favor of the Cubs, but with only 23 percent confidence. The Cubs won the first three games between the teams this season by a combined 17 runs. I like the trend to continue in a game “over” the line.
Boston Red Sox versus Minnesota Twins
Both teams enter “average” on the Team Strength Oscillator. Boston is 3-3 over their last six games and Minnesota is 4-2 over the same period. The Twins are +19 to +9 on the Power Ranks Indicator. Boston has been involved in games “under” the line in four of their last six, while Minnesota has been “over” in four of their last six. The Score Predictor likes Boston by a 5-3 margin but with only 37 percent confidence. Boston won two of three between the teams earlier in the season. Be aware that Boston has been inconsistent with regard to their favorite/under status. I like Minnesota at home but will pass on the “over/under” bet.
San Diego Padres versus San Francisco Giants
In this NL West clash, both teams are 4-2 over their last six games. San Francisco is “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator and +21 on the Power Ranks Indicator, while San Diego is “average” and +13, respectively. The teams have been trending in games on opposite sides of the “over/under” line and the Score Predictor likes the Giants by a narrow 6-5 margin with 49 percent confidence. San Diego won the previous two games between the teams this season. I like the Giants to bounce back and take this on in a game “over” the line.
