We’ve made it to the end of the work week, and to celebrate, I’ve crafted a 3-leg parlay that pays out at over 10/1 odds at FanDuel Sportsbook. This parlay involves 3 AL East teams winning, and hopefully by a lot too. Be sure to check out our MLB predictions for all of today’s games, but for now, let’s get into my MLB mega parlay for Friday.

New York Yankees -1.5 (+135) over Baltimore Orioles
There are very few pitchers that I have less faith in than Grayson Rodriguez. Coming into the season, there was a lot of hype around Rodriguez and the potential that he had. That pressure seemed to get to him early on as he had a 4.07 ERA in April and then an 11.14 ERA in May. That terrible month of May earned Rodriguez a one-way ticket to Triple-A, but that moved seemed to benefit him. He allowed just 7 runs in 37.1 innings in the Minors as he continued to work for another chance in the show. The prospect seemed to figure it out in the Minors and earned a spot in the rotation to start the second half of the season. However, his success at Triple-A hasn’t translated into the Majors still. He’s allowed 6 runs and 10 hits in 10.2 innings to the Dodgers and Rays in his last 2 starts. I’m not convinced that Rodriguez has gotten over the hump in the MLB yet, so I’m going to keep fading him until he proves differently.
On the other side, Gerrit Cole has been spectacular this season. New York’s ace has a 2.78 ERA and a 1.08 WHIP through 21 outings and earned the honor of starting in the All-Star Game this year. But here’s the real reason for the Yankees on Friday night – Aaron Judge is back! The Yankees slugger has missed the last several weeks with a toe injury but finally seems ready to return on Friday night. Without Judge, the Yankees aren’t the team they’re supposed to be. That’s been reflected in their offensive stats and record in the last month, but now with the Captain back, they should be able to make the second-half surge that Yankees fans are expecting. With Judge back for the Yankees and Rodriguez on the mound for the O’s, I’m backing New York for a big win.
Toronto Blue Jays -1.5 (+105) over Los Angeles Angels
The first major move of the MLB trade deadline involved Lucas Giolito and Reynaldo Lopez being dealt to the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for the Angels’ #2 and #3 overall prospects. I’m not really sure what the Angels were doing giving away a pair of key pieces to their future, but I guess whatever they have to do to show Shohei Ohtani that they’re in win-now mode is worth it. Anyways, Giolito will make his Angels debut on Friday night against the Blue Jays. Unfortunately for Angels fans, the start will take place in Toronto – away from the fans. Giolito is coming off one of his best starts of the year, which definitely raised his trade value by the way, as he threw 5 scoreless innings and surrendered just 6 hits against the Twins. Unfortunately for Giolito, he will be up against Toronto’s ace, Kevin Gausman.
Gausman is having a career season for the Blue Jays. With a 3.18 ERA and 3.65 xERA through 20 starts, he’s been the staple of the Toronto starting rotation. His splitter has been better than ever which has led to the ace recording a career-high strikeout rate of 32.9%. And fortunately for Gausman, this start will come at home. The right-hander has been fantastic in Toronto this season with a 2.58 ERA and a 0.99 WHIP, and he’s limited hitters to just a .214 batting average in 9 outings. So far, everything points towards a Blue Jays win, and I haven’t even gotten to the biggest advantage of all. While Toronto had an off day on Thursday, the Angels played a doubleheader in Detroit which ended with Shohei Ohtani leaving the second game early with an oblique injury. I’ll back the better, and more rested, team on Friday night.

Boston Red Sox ML (+130) over San Francisco Giants
The Boston Red Sox have caught fire in the last few weeks. They are coming off a 2-game sweep of the Atlanta Braves at Fenway Park and had a travel day on Thursday to prepare for this 3-game series in San Francisco. It’s impressive to think that the Red Sox are having all of this success without Trevor Story, Chris Sale or Garrett Whitlock, but somehow, they just keep on winning. On Friday night, they will give the ball to Kutter Crawford for his 10th start since rejoining the rotation. After being moved from the bullpen to the rotation, Crawford has a 4.43 ERA and has limited hitters to a .257 batting average and .232 xBA. His first start after the break was his best of the season as he threw 6 scoreless innings and surrendered just 1 hit while striking out 9. However, his next start wasn’t as stellar as he got tagged for 4 runs and 4 hits in just 4 innings against the Mets.
One of Logan Webb’s best qualities is being able to go deep into games. In his first 20 starts, Webb completed at least 6 innings in 17 outings. That’s a manager’s dream in today’s era of baseball, but that wasn’t the case in his most recent outing. Webb lasted just 1.1 innings against the Nationals last week – the shortest start of his career. He was rocked for 6 runs and 5 hits in just 1.1 innings which was the most uncharacteristic thing we’ve seen from Webb in a long time. The only benefit of that was his pitch count never got too high, so he’s a little more rested than he would have been on a normal start. Otherwise, Webb is facing a red-hot offense that just took 2 games from the best team in baseball. At plus odds, I like Boston’s chances.
