Take this article from Marcus Hayes with a GIGANTIC grain of salt. Like the biggest mound in one of those giant teepee looking things off 76 because we know Hayes likes to drop opinion pieces with presumed loosely sourced information. He’s the only reporter in the city who ran a story that suggested defensive backs coach Dennard Wilson was fired instead of mutually parting ways with the Eagles a couple weeks ago. He even suggested there could be a mutiny in the building because of it. He has a history of implying things that coaches never said and accusing Ken Griffey Jr. of using steroids with zero evidence so sorry if I don’t take things he pens seriously. It’s not because I was the leader of QGannon…maybe.
In my mind, if the Inky actually took his reporting on this seriously they wouldn’t have published the article at 5pm on a Friday. It’s not even the main focus on the site’s front page currently. But he’s got TWO sources that say Jonathan Gannon was down right giddy at the Super Bowl party after the loss! Not ONE but TWO! Via Hayes:
Maybe C.J. Gardner-Johnson was right. Maybe Jonathan Gannon wasn’t focused on the Eagles during Super Bowl week.
Two months ago, they wished him good luck. Today, they wish him good riddance.
They are, in a word, furious.
…
Maybe a pending job offer to coach the Arizona Cardinals, illegally negotiated with the Super Bowl looming, distracted Gannon to the degree that his defense gave up 24 second-half points to a one-legged quarterback and a coach with a history of horrible halftime adjustments. Maybe that’s why the two star cornerbacks each gave up a touchdown on the same type of play in the second half. Maybe that’s why the Birds’ second-ranked defense blew a 10-point lead and didn’t get a stop after intermission.
Maybe that’s why Gannon, according to two NFL sources, was giddy at an otherwise morose afterparty at the team hotel in Phoenix. Maybe that’s why, in a few short weeks, Gannon has gone from the NFL’s offseason Golden Boy to the NFL’s no-socks laughingstock.
The swipes at a now 2x Super Bowl winning coach’s halftime adjustments aside, Gannon is the easiest punching bag in Philly right now. Howie Roseman and Nick Sirianni were asked about the tampering investigation and if they thought Jonathan Gannon’s head was elsewhere (starts at 10:10). Here is Nick’s quote:
Nick Sirianni on his reaction to Cardinals tampering with Jonathan Gannon: “I know Gannon gave everything he had to that game. Everything he had for that Super Bowl, he gave to this team. No reaction because I know where his heart was in it.”

I’m not naive to believe everything they say, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they were largely pissed, but it was back in January when he spoke to the Cardinals GM. Some time right after the NFC Championship win on January 29th according to Hayes’ sources.
Listen could Marcus Hayes surprise me and actually be right? Maybe. I’d be shocked. If this was Jeff McLane, Josh Tolentino, or EJ Smith over there I’d believe it in a second because they’re owed that. They aren’t a guy who has built a career on asinine takes to go along with his questionable sources.
Man tenure is a real bitch.
