Boxing fans have long debated who is superior between Tyson Fury and Lennox Lewis, but for Barry McGuigan there is no debate.
Fury and Lewis are arguably the best heavyweights of their respective eras and the top two British heavyweights of all time.
Lewis is a three-time heavyweight champion and he was the last man in the division to hold the undisputed titles.
‘The Lion’ beat every man he shared the ring with and recorded wins over Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, Vitali Klitschko and Frank Bruno.
Fury has looked utterly dominant in boxing’s glamour division in recent years, beating arguably the hardest puncher in heavyweight boxing history, Deontay Wilder, on three occasions.
In 2015, ‘The Gypsy King’ also became the first man for over ten years to beat Wladimir Klitschko and he has held every world title the heavyweight division has to offer at some point in his career.
With so many accolades between them, it is hard to separate the two men, but in the eyes of former featherweight world champion, Barry McGuigan, Lewis is levels above Fury.
McGuigan said on his Twitter when replying to a fan, “I don’t hate anyone but I know Lennox Lewis would have destroyed Fury.
“Compare their resumé there is no comparison, those are the facts.”

McGuigan went on to say: “I was there ringside for many of Lennox’s fights and he was far superior to Fury and beat much better opposition.”
This year, however, Fury could have the chance to become the first undisputed heavyweight world champion in the four-belt era by beating Oleksandr Usyk.
By achieving that feat. there would certainly be a case for him being better or equal to Lewis.
Fury and Usyk are expected to fight in March this year, with Saudi Arabia the likely location, although Wembley Stadium in London is also still reportedly an option.
