John Tortorella Hasn’t Spoken with Tony DeAngelo

The Flyers lost their seventh game in a row on Sunday evening, edging mercifully closer towards the end of this wretched abomination of a season.

The highlight of the day was this:

Q: Thought process behind keeping DeAngelo out again?

Torts: “Just our decision.”

Q: Is he healthy?

Torts: “Yes.”

Q: How is he taking sitting 3 straight?

Torts: “Haven’t talked to him.”

Alright, so the Flyers are going to attempt to move TDA just one year after trading for him. Chuck Fletcher, in one of his myriad moments of brilliance, shipped three draft picks to Carolina for a guy who has now been scratched three straight times and is owed another $5 million next season. Not sure that’s a cap hit anybody is looking to absorb for a year, so maybe if the Flyers retain some of that salary they can do something in the summer vs. hanging on until next year’s trade deadline. It’s Danny Briere’s problem now.

It would be one thing if the Flyers had a bunch of young D-men they wanted to take a look at, but they scratched TDA Sunday to roll 13 forwards and five defensemen instead. Nick Seeler was sick after playing on Saturday.

Maybe Torts will have an update soon, but first he will have to speak with DeAngelo.
