Jalen Hurts Explains Comment About Eagles’ Lack of Commitment

Jalen Hurts seemed to question the Eagles’ commitment on Monday night when he said this after the putrid loss to the Seahawks:

“I’ve been talking about execution all year. Being on the same page, everyone being on the same page. We didn’t execute. I don’t think we all were committed enough. Just got to turn it around. It is a challenge we have to embrace and continue to see it through.”

He spoke on Thursday afternoon, and clarified, sort of.

The quote:

“My mind was in a place of really just trying to challenge myself, and when you think holistically about the things you want to accomplish, and everything we’re trying to do, that all runs through me, starts with me. So when I say ‘we,’ I  mean ‘me,’ because I’m the point guard out there, the one who makes everything go, and I’m the guy everyone trusts to do and set the pace for everything. That’s in how I play, my leadership, every aspect of the game that comes with the shoes I walk in. So it’s just a challenge to myself, you challenge yourself and the people around you, but I think it’s just a situation where we are, something we’re going through, not something we’re stuck in. There’s beauty in all of this and I embrace every ounce of it. There’s an opportunity to keep the main thing the main thing.”

This all goes away if they beat the Giants on Monday night, or really the bleeding stops. If they can’t beat Tommy DeVito at home then they are cooked.
