3:51 pm Saratoga (Race 7) – Tiz The Bomb 10/1 (1-star play)

Saratoga’s Summer meet continues with a card loaded full of quality, and in Race 7 we have an open looking Fasig-Tipton Lure Stakes and I like the chances of Tiz The Bomb who can hit the board at a nice price. Kenneth McPeek’s colt has been running with credit in top stakes events since his last win in April 2022 and now could be the time to catch him as he has been impressing in recent workouts and this race should be run to suit.

4:26 pm Saratoga (Race 8) – Clearly Unhinged 12/1 (1-star play)

The Grade 1 Test Stakes is a race not to be missed as Kentucky Oaks winner Pretty Mischievous and the unbeaten Maple Leaf Mel do battle over 7 furlongs on the dirt but Clearly Unhinged can have a say at double-figure odds. She is a late bloomer who showed a tenacious attitude to win an Allowance Optional Claimer at Santa Anita last time, which came after a close up fourth in the Santa Anita Oaks — and there is a good amount of improvement to come from her.

5:01 pm Saratoga (Race 9) – Lion Of War 8/1 (1-star play)

As a racehorse, Roaring Lion never backed down from a fight and he has offspring in Lion Of War who has all the traits to make a splash on American shores in the $600,000 Grade 1 Saratoga Derby. He was keeping on when second behind Burdett Road in the Golden Gate Stakes at Royal Ascot last time out and the general feeling is that Charlie Johnston’s colt is a top-level performer so a bold bid is expected under Oisin Murphy.

5:42 pm Saratoga (Race 10) – Cody’s Wish 1/2 (3-star play)

There wasn’t a dry eye in the house when Cody’s Wish won the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile last season and William Mott’s charge is looking for his fourth Grade 1 victory on the spin in the Whitney. This horse is a class act, however, he is unproven at this 9-furlong distance — but he does finish his races off very strongly over a mile so he is taken to pass this test with flying colors.
