2:39 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 5) – Perfect Cut 4/1 (2-star play)

Race 5 at Gulfstream Park is a $23,000 Claiming contest over a mile on the dirt course and I like the chances of Perfect Cut, who finished a very good third in this company last time out. That was in a competitive field and he was only just caught late on over an extended mile, so this drop back in distance will suit.  He should go well from stall 2 if Emisael Jaramillo can get out and into a prominent position early.

3:10 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 6) – Cosmic Speculation 2/1 (2-star play)

A field of 7 3-year-olds go to post for this Allowance event on the all-weather track and you should look no further than Joseph Orseno’s Cosmic Speculation who comes into this in red-hot form. He has reeled off back-to-back victories in Maiden and Starter Optional Claiming company at this course whilst giving the impression that he’s a horse very much on the improve, so I wouldn’t want to be taking him on just yet.

3:43 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 7) – Alternate Rock 4/1 (2-star play)

The penultimate race at Gulfstream Park is a $51,000 Allowance Optional Claimer for the female division in which Dontlookbackatall is likely to go off a warm order. But Alternate Rock is an improving filly and she can have a big say in this. She has been running well over sprint trips here with form figures of 414 from her last 3 starts, but on breeding she will be more at home over this mile trip so I am expecting a big run from her.

4:15 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 8) – Sturdy Girl 6/1 (1-star play)

Nader Moubarak’s Sturdy Girl has won once in 6 starts, which was a Maiden Claimer here back in January. But she has disappointed in 2 races since, so she will appreciate this drop back into Claiming company. Sonny Leon’s mount showed grit and determination to break her maiden over this extended 5 furlongs and the general feeling is that there is more to come from her, so this drop in class could be just what she needs to get back on track.
