Ah, the joys of tennis betting….
We’re off to mediocre start to the French Open, as I went 1-2 on each of the first 2 days. The first bad beat of the tournament came on Sunday, when Ben Shelton served at 3-5 in the fourth set of his match against Lorenzo Sonego to cash Over 37.5 tickets on the game total. But Shelton got broken to lose the match and end it at 37 games. Then one of the worst beats I’ve suffered in a long time happened on Monday. Arthur Fils trailed Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 2 sets to 1 but led 3-0 in the fourth set. The Frenchman had to win just 1 more game to clinch sending the match over the 35.5 game total. Sure enough, Fils lost 6 consecutive games to end it at 35 and break the hearts of Over bettors – including myself.
Alas, we move ahead as the season’s second Grand Slam continues on Tuesday – when Iga Swiatek and Daniil Medvedev will be among those taking the court. Let’s take a look at the best bets to be made on the Day 3 schedule, and also be sure to check out my best outright bets on both the men’s and women’s sides.

J.J. Wolf over Yoshihito Nishioka (-117)
I’m not going to lie; Nishioka is one of my favorite players to fade. I’m not going to blindly do it, of course, but he is a fade candidate more often than not and a matchup with Wolf is no exception. Nishioka is among the most mercurial players on tour. He blows hot and cold, and when he is cold he is ice cold. That is certainly the case now, as the left-hander from Japan is 2-8 in his last 10 matches dating back to February. Since the start of 2016 he is an anemic 18-26 on clay. Wolf is playing well and should be able to take advantage of a reeling opponent.

Clara Burel +4 games over Sara Sorribes Tormo (-113)
Once ranked #32, Sorribes Tormo has dropped exactly 100 spots below that number on the WTA Tour. She has had to drop down to the lower levels of tennis to win basically any matches during the 2023 campaign. Meanwhile, Burel just made a semifinal run in Lyon — where she beat Sorana Cirstea, Kaia Kanepi and Bernada Pera. All of those are good wins. Burel is French, so she still has home-court advantage just like she did in Lyon. I think the 22-year-old can even win this match outright.
Parlay: Emil Ruusuvuori ML over Gregoire Barrere and Nicolas Jarry ML over Hugo Dellien (-103)
Like Burel, Jarry is also armed with a ton of confidence heading into Roland Garros. The Chilean just captured his second ATP title of the season (and second on clay) in Geneva this past Saturday. Ruusuvuori is also rolling, having posted all kinds of strong results this spring. But perhaps what you have to like most about this parlay is that Barrere and Dellien are both prime fade candidates. Barrere is playing decent tennis at the moment but is much better on indoor hard courts than clay. Dellien is the opposite; he is at his best on clay but is in overall horrible form right now.
