Free Horse Racing tips for Saturday and Sunday

Renowned Horse Racing Tipster and Journalist Ed Quigley, aka ‘Longshot Ted’ offers up his best bets for Saturday’s ITV action, and picks out some of the other horses who have made him sit up and take note, on what should be a cracking weekend of sport.

Saturday Advice:
BLOOD DESTINY, Fairyhouse 12.27, win Evens – William Hill
PAINT THE DREAM, Kempton 2.05, win 5/2 – BetVictor
UP FOR PAROL, Kempton 2.40, each-way 28/1 – Coral
NESTOR PARK, Warwick 3.00. each-way 9/1 William Hill
SLATE HOUSE, Kempton 3.15, win 5/1 – Unibet

We are not stacked with Grade 1 action this weekend like we have been blessed over numerous weekends recently,  although, on Saturday, Kempton and Warwick offer up some quality fare. It’s very much a case of ultra-competitive Handicaps coming to the fore and there is plenty of value on offer. The Lanzarote Hurdle at Kempton looks stacked, and the Classic Chase at Warwick is always a thorough examination of stamina which makes for an excellent betting heat around one of the most demanding jumping circuits in the country.

The aforementioned Lanzarote Hurdle (2.40) has a full field of 20 declared, and in recent days there has been a wave of support – and unsurprisingly in many respects, for the Charles Byrnes representative Green Glory. The six-year-old got off the mark over hurdles at Leopardstown last month and potentially could still be well-treated here for one of the shrewdest handlers in the game. However, unless you were an early bird catching the ante-post value worm, it’s not hard to look elsewhere for an each-way alternative now. Jamie Snowden has been having a great season, scooping some big prizes this term, including the Paddy Power Gold Cup with Ga Law, who we should hopefully see at the end of the month. The Lambourn handler is represented here by UP FOR PAROL is far from a forlorn hope at a big price. He was sixth in this 12 months ago, when missing the kick early doors and getting stuck in the backwash of traffic which is exactly what wasn’t required for a horse who likes to be ridden much more prominently. To his credit, he stayed on nicely and ultimately he wasn’t beaten a million miles. In regards to handicapping metrics; that run came off an official mark of 133 and he gets in this time around off a 4lb lower mark, leaving him now only 2lb higher than when he was last in the winner’s enclosure. Flat tracks and soft ground are tailor-made for him and I wouldn’t be shocked if got involved in the shake-up here.

Elsewhere on the card, Paul Nicholls is doubly represented in the Grade 2 Silviniaco Conti Chase (2.05), and looks to have leading claims with Pic D’Orhy who is a class act on his best form and enjoys Kempton, so has to be respected. However, recent rainfall wouldn’t be ideal for him and may leave him vulnerable to a more resolute stayer on the trip, and PAINT THE DREAM looks like the value call. Fergal O’Brien has been on fire this season season, and the nine-year-old is rated 3lb higher than the Paul Nicholls rival on official figures, and due to the conditions of the race is in receipt of 2lb, so has to be taken seriously. Flat tracks see him to good effect as wins at Newbury and Perth would suggest, and he is versatile in regard to ground requirements.

I can’t ignore the old-timer SLATE HOUSE in the Handicap Chase over an extended 2m4f (3.15) at the Sunbury venue. Cut in the ground will be fine for the 11-year-old who has a touch of class and has the tools to be competitive off a mark of 138 despite his advancing years. He has a good record at Kempton (three wins from five visits), and this former Grade 1 winner can get involved off top weight for the Brendan Powell and Joe Tizzard combination.

Warwick hosts the Classic Chase (3.00), and I think NESTOR PARK offers good each-way value in the feature race. This previous course winner is battle-hardened, loves soft ground, and showed at Haydock back in November that a thorough examination of stamina will suit. He has to go left-handed and his prominent racing style suits Warwick. The excellent Luca Morgan, who recently rode out his claim, is in the saddle, and I think this teak-tough 10-year-old won’t be far away for the Ben Pauling team. The Cotswold handler is having a terrific season and another winner on the curriculum vitae could easily be coming here. Threeunderthrufive will be looking to make amends after his first fence blunder at Newbury last time out, and the Willie Mullins trained Mr Incredible is still unexposed and it could all click in place over for the seven-year-old this marathon trip.

The remainder of the card will be a watching brief for me, with the duo of Grade 2’s – the Leamington Novices’ Hurdle and the Hampton Novices’ Chase both a bit underwhelming if I am being blunt. The former race has been won by the likes of Inglis Drever and The New One in the past, and I would be surprised if he has anything of that calibre in the lineup here.

Across the Irish Sea at Fairyhouse (12.27) my ante-post Triumph Hurdle fancy BLOOD DESTINY can hopefully get the job done in smart style. The Willie Mullins team are red-hot, and the 4-year-old barely had to break a sweat to win at Cork on Hurdles and Stable debut. There are some smart sorts in opposition including the likes of Nusret, but I think this race looks his for the taking, and I will be looking for him to enhance his Cheltenham Festival claims with a victory here. I doubt the 16/1 that is widely available for the Triumph will be around for long if he can go through the gears in the manner I am expecting.

Punchestown hosts a quality card on Sunday, and there may well be Cheltenham Festival clues aplenty, with all eyes on Impaired Et Passe in the Moscow Flyer Novice Hurdle. The five-year-old pulverised the opposition by 18 lengths at Naas last month. With a win here, sights will be firmly set on trying to dine at the top table at Prestbury Park in March, and it will be fascinating which route they take, with his mighty stablemate Facile Vega waiting in the wings. Supreme? Ballymore? Who knows – not even Willie Mullins I suspect so let’s get this race done and dusted first.

Enjoy the action and have a great weekend!
