Former Bucs Assistant Signs With AFC Team

Former Bucs assistant defensive line coach Lori Locust has signed with a new team according to Ian Rapoport. She will be joining the Tennessee Titans with Mike Vrabel’s coaching staff and resume the same role in Tampa Bay.

After the season, Locust along with a number of assistant coaches were let go following an 8-9 season. While most were offensive coaches, the release of Locust came as a surprise considering the success that the defensive line has had in recent seasons.

Locust joined the Bucs when Bruce Arians became head coach in 2019 and remained in that role when Todd Bowles was named head coach in 2022. She worked under defensive line coach Kacy Rodgers where she coached up the likes of Vita Vea, Ndamukong Suh, Will Gholston, Logan Hall and more.

Bucs Will See Locust And Titans Next Season

Over the last two years the Bucs and Titans have met for joint practices during training camp before their preseason game. Tennessee came to Tampa Bay in 2021, then the Bucs went to the Titans’ city in 2022.

This year will be a little bit different since these teams will play against each other in the regular season with the Bucs as the host. Tampa Bay plays against the AFC South and NFC North this season along with their rivals in the NFC South and the Bills and Eagles on the schedule.
