Fantasy Football: Week 9 Streamers to Consider

Here we go again with the bye weeks. All our players from the Broncos, Jaguars, Lions, and 49ers won’t be scoring any points for our fantasy rosters this week. Fortunately, there are some interesting streamers with favorable matchups and some of them might be available in your league. Just like every week, in this article you will find some streaming options to help your team get as many points as possible from the QB, K, and D/ST positions. Let’s take a look at this week’s streamers!

Quarterbacks

Derek Carr – New Orleans Saints (39% rostered)

Despite having lost half of his games as a New Orleans Saint, Derek Carr has been a decent fantasy asset during the past four weeks. He has now eclipsed the 300-yard mark three times in a row and his streak might continue this week in a very favorable matchup against Chicago. The Bears have allowed the fourth most passing yards, the second most passing touchdowns, and 18.8 fantasy points on average to opposing QBs. It doesn’t matter if the Saints win or lose the game. Derek Carr should be a fine streamer this week.

Will Levis – Tennessee Titans (7% rostered)

Well, Will Levis’ most famous feat is no longer eating bananas with full peel or putting mayonnaise in his coffee. Last week he had his first official NFL start and he played a brilliant game against Atlanta, throwing for 238 yards and four touchdowns. A lot of people started the Falcons’ defense assuming Levis would make a lot of rookie mistakes. But his performance was solid enough to convince Mike Vrabel to start him with confidence again and fantasy managers should do the same. The matchup against the Steelers is a tough one, but the Falcons’ defense isn’t a piece of cake either and he crushed them. If you need a QB, try to get Will Levis and you might even get more than a one-week streamer.

Mac Jones – New England Patriots (14% rostered)

Mac Jones has been useful as a streamer in certain games, and despite struggling last week against Jalen Ramsey and the Dolphins, he has been playing better lately. Kendrick Bourne and Devante Parker got injured last week, but rookie WR Demario Douglas has proven to be a trustworthy weapon and Mac Jones has been building an interesting chemistry with him. This week he has a perfect bounce-back matchup against the Washington Commanders who have allowed 21.8 points per game to the position. 

Zach Wilson  – New York Jets (9% rostered)

There has only been one game in which we could say Zach Wilson had a good fantasy performance this season. It was in Week 4 against the Chiefs and of course, nobody started him that week. So I understand if you’re hesitant to consider him as a streamer, but this week he has an ideal matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers, who have been letting every QB do whatever he wants. They have allowed the most fantasy points to the position and are on pace to allow 5,452 passing yards this season, which would shatter the current record by 454 yards! Zach Wilson should be at least decent for fantasy this week.

Kickers

Evan McPherson – Cincinnati Bengals (62% rostered)

There are many reasons why Evan McPherson is so available in fantasy leagues. First, the Bengals had a disappointing start to the season. Then they had their bye week. And finally, last week’s matchup against the 49ers was a bit frightening. He missed one of his two field goal attempts in that game, but make no mistake: Evan McPherson is one of the league’s best kickers. And this week the Bengals are three-point favorites in what projects to be a high-scoring game against the Buffalo Bills. If McPherson is available in your league, this is a great streaming opportunity.

Brandon Aubrey – Dallas Cowboys (54% rostered)

I thought last week was the last call to get rookie sensation Brandon Aubrey. But almost half of the leagues keep ignoring him. So here I am still begging you to pick him up. Last week he was once again perfect, nailing his two field goal attempts and his five PATs. Even the defense is helping Brandon Aubrey score fantasy points. He will keep getting opportunities this week when the Cowboys visit the Eagles. This game has a 46.5 over/under. It’s not an amazing line but it’s high by this season’s standards. Stop ignoring the rookie and get him if you can.

Jason Sanders – Miami Dolphins (76% rostered)

Not as available as other kickers, but Jason Sanders might be THE best kicker to stream this week. The Dolphins will play against the Chiefs in Frankfurt this week and it should be a shootout. This is the only game projected to be over 50 points, so there should be plenty of kicks on both sides of the ball. If Jason Sanders is available in your league, pick him up and start your Sunday with some morning fantasy points from your K position.

Matt Gay – Indianapolis Colts (26% rostered)

The Colts have been airing it out with Gardner Minshew and scoring more points than expected in the past few games. This has allowed Matt Gay to score decent fantasy points even in not-so-great matchups. Last week he nailed all his opportunities against the Saints and his services should be required often this week against the Carolina Panthers. Vegas expects the Colts to score around 24 points in this game, but their games have been hitting the over lately and I think it will happen again this week, which would mean more opportunities for kicker points.

Defense & Special Teams

Las Vegas Raiders (12% rostered)

The Raiders are playing this week against the Giants, who have been terrible on offense and have finally tied the Commanders in the most sacks allowed competition. The Raiders D/ST has been streamable in favorable matchups and this is simply the most favorable of them all. The Giants are the only team that has allowed more than 12 fantasy points on average to the position, so you can stream the Raiders with confidence.

Washington Commanders (20% rostered)

Even though the Patriots have been playing better football in general during the past few weeks, they’ve been constantly making offensive mistakes and that’s fantasy gold for streaming defenses. Right now the Patriots have allowed the second-most fantasy points on average to opposing D/ST, so the Commanders are a solid option for Week 9.

Arizona Cardinals (2% rostered)

The Cleveland Browns have been a very curious case this season. Their defense is playing at an elite level but their offense has been painful to watch. The timeline for Deshaun Watson to return is still unclear, but it seems P.J. Walker will be the starter again. Last week he threw two interceptions and lost a fumble. The Arizona Cardinals might not have a great defense, but this is an ideal matchup and they should be a decent streamer this week.

New England Patriots (25% rostered)

Poor Sam Howell. His offensive line has allowed opposing defenses to sack him 41 times this season. The Patriots’ D/ST has had a tough schedule so far, but their defense is not as bad as it might seem. This matchup against the Commanders might be the easiest they’ve had this season. Washington should make enough offensive mistakes to let the Patriots be a solid D/ST streaming option.
