Fantasy Football: Week 7 Streamers to Consider

Welcome to the first Byepocalypse of the season. This is when streaming might be the key for your team to win. Six teams are on bye this week: the Cowboys, Panthers, Bengals, Texans, Jets, and Titans. Some relevant quarterbacks, kickers, and D/ST won’t be on your lineup. But fear not! We’ve got you covered.

This weekly article highlights streaming alternatives to help your team score as many points as possible from the QB, K, and D/ST positions. So let’s take a look at the streaming pool as we try to survive this Byepocalypse:

Quarterbacks

Geno Smith (59% rostered)

After a surprisingly great 2022 campaign, Geno Smith has had his ups and downs this season. His only acceptable fantasy performance came in Week 2 against Detroit. Since then, he has been struggling in good matchups, partly because he suffered a knee injury in Week 4. Last week he came fresh off a bye, and even though he surpassed the 300-yard mark, he didn’t throw a single touchdown pass for the first time in the season. Things should get easier for Geno Smith this week against the Arizona Cardinals, who have allowed 19.6 fantasy points on average to QBs. This is a great matchup, especially for a QB with Geno’s skillset.

Jordan Love (65% rostered)

After a disappointing fantasy performance in what should have been a great matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday night, Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers had their bye week to reflect on what went wrong and fix what needs to be fixed. I hope Love is well rested because he will be busy scoring fantasy points for your team this week against the Denver Broncos, who have allowed the most passing yards by a wide margin. Playing against a weak opponent and with Christian Watson finally healthy as his top receiver, Jordan Love should have a bounce-back week.

Derek Carr (28% rostered)

Things have not been easy for Derek Carr during his first five weeks as a New Orleans Saint. He got sacked 11 times in his first three starts and injured his shoulder in Week 4. But he had a decent performance against the Houston Texans this past week, throwing for over 300 yards for the first time since Week 1, and he is about to get another favorable matchup at home against the Jacksonville Jaguars, who have allowed the second-most passing yards to opposing QBs. Derek Carr should continue being a decent streamer this week.

Brock Purdy (88% rostered)

Being so heavily rostered, Brock Purdy might not belong in a streaming article. So take it as a bonus in case he is available in your league. Some fantasy managers might be considering benching or even rage-dropping him after his first NFL regular season loss. But it was against the Browns, who have allowed the fewest passing touchdowns this season. Yes, it was painful seeing him play his worst game just a week after he arguably played the best one of his career against the Cowboys. Brock Purdy might not be among the top fantasy QBs but he is very streamable in the right matchup. And his Week 7 date with the Vikings is a pretty good one. Minnesota has allowed the second-most completions this season, so I wouldn’t be surprised if his passing volume increases a little bit this week.

Kickers

Jake Moody (66% rostered)

Two rookie kickers have been great this season and fantasy managers are finally starting to notice them. But only one of them will play this week and he is still relatively available despite having proved to be a solid every-week starter. Jake Moody has been almost perfect so far, nailing all but two of his kicking opportunities through six weeks and he has one of the best matchups for kickers this week. The San Francisco 49ers will play the Minnesota Vikings in what projects to be a high-scoring game on Monday night. According to Vegas betting lines, the 49ers are projected to score 25 points, which means Moody will get some opportunities to do what he knows best.

Jason Myers (22% rostered)

Despite being one of last season’s best fantasy kickers, Jason Myers is widely available after being on bye in Week 5. The Seattle Seahawks will be eight-point favorites when they visit Arizona this week. The Cardinals have been better on offense than most people expected. That’s why this game has the week’s third-highest over/under line. This matchup should provide Jason Myers with enough opportunities to score some decent fantasy points.

Cameron Dicker (13% rostered)

The Los Angeles Chargers kicker appears once again on this list. His matchups are usually among the week’s highest Vegas lines, mainly due to the disparity between the Chargers’ offense and defense. When a team both scores and receives so many points, games are always on the line and that’s great news for kickers. This matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs is no exception. 50+ points are projected to be scored in this game, so I would confidently start Dicker this week.

Defense & Special Teams

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (13% rostered)

Widely available after going on bye and then facing the Detroit Lions, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been one of this season’s best D/ST units, scoring 10+ points in three out of five games. They’ll now get a juicy matchup against rookie QB Desmond Ridder, who has been sacked 19 times already. The Bucs might be one of this week’s best streamers at the D/ST position. 

Washington Commanders (24% rostered)

After three complicated weeks against the Bills, the Eagles, and an unrecognizably inspired version of the Bears, last week the Commanders’ D/ST finally had another favorable matchup against the Falcons and made the most out of it. This week they have an even better one against the Giants, who have allowed the most fantasy points per game to opposing D/ST.

Indianapolis Colts (7% rostered)

The Colts have been streamable in favorable matchups so far. They started the season strong, getting 17 turnovers and scoring double-digit fantasy points in each of the first three weeks. Since then, things have not been as good, but they will have a good chance to bounce back this week against the Browns, who have been struggling on offense and allowing 12.4 fantasy points on average to D/ST. Deshaun Watson might be limited or even miss this week, making the Colts a viable streaming option.

Las Vegas Raiders (31% rostered)

Unlike the Colts, the Raiders’ defense didn’t look good during the first four weeks of the season. But they have been on fire for two straight weeks and might continue their hot streak this week – following NBA Jam rules – when they face the Bears, who have allowed the third-most fantasy points per game to the position and could be starting rookie QB Tyler Bagent as Justin Fields’ backup since he is dealing with a dislocated thumb.
