Drew Lock.
You let Drew Lock go 10 plays and 92 yards in 1:24 to lose the game. Snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. Now you’re on a three-game losing streak. The #1 seed is a pipe dream and the division is back in play if there’s another slip up.
Hideous loss, considering that they led for most of the game and didn’t even turn in that bad of a performance. They left points out there, didn’t make enough plays, the QB wasn’t good enough even if he was sick, and then they collapsed when the W was right in front of them. Multiple opportunities to put this one to bed and they didn’t do it.
Let’s go to the takeaways! –
1) Golden Tate raising the flag before the game was a nice 2018 PTSD trigger.
2) Not expecting a big first down run for Jalen Hurts on the very first play, not with the reports of sickness and the whole private plane ordeal. A portent perhaps, because he started and finished that drive with decisive off-tackle runs.
3) Notice a little bit of pre-snap motion on the first Eagles drive? Not exactly the Chiefs or Dolphins out there, but since the Birds barely move at all, it sticks out. They ran a QB option with Dallas Goedert and a threw some perimeter stuff as well. Different looks than what we had seen in previous weeks.
4) There was a lot said about the Seahawks playing zone, and you saw some third down completions where Eagles receivers were able to just sit down in the middle of the field and snag a couple of those throws to move the chains. They converted a fourth down to Julio Jones in the same way. Much better than getting blitzed to hell by Dallas.
5) You could see the soccer lines still imprinted on the field. How long does it take for those to disappear? Seattle’s MLS team was eliminated from the playoffs on November 26th.
6) There must have been some pretty serious contact for Landon Dickerson to lose his facemask:
7) The Matt Patricia era began with a three and out, but if Drew Lock put that ball a little in front of DK Metcalf it may have gone for a first down. Nice play by Bradley Roby, regardless.
8) That Braden Mann punt took a great bounce and went 61 yards. Arryn Siposs would have shanked it 25 yards into the Space Needle.
9) Big play was Noah Fant being flagged for a false start to shift 3rd and 1 to 3rd and 6 instead. The broadcast called it a bad call, but if you go back and watch the replay, it looked like Roby was pointing at Fant and asking for a call before Fant turned to look inside:
10) Could have sworn I heard the crowd yelling “fuck the Eagles” during a Seattle punt. Good crowd out there.
11) The Jason Kelce Brotherly Shove penalty was whatever. I saw people complaining about it on social, but he moved the ball forward, and it wasn’t an inch or two. If you wanna be annoyed with something, be annoyed with the 3rd and 6 play call that preceded the field goal.
12) Gotta love the commercial break, followed by one play and then another commercial break.
13) Good clock management from the Eagles at the end of the first half. They used their timeouts, the defense got the stop, and by the time Seattle kicked the field goal, there was 1:42 remaining. It gave them another shot at points before the Seahawks got the ball to start the 3rd quarter. Only problem was that the offense did jack shit on the ensuing possession, and ended up punting the ball back to the Seahawks 30 seconds later.
14) Hurts ended up with paint on his right shoulder. Kinda looked cool, like some tie dye type of deal.
15) Shaq Leonard looked awfully slow on that Kenneth Walker swing pass that probably should have been a tackle for loss.
16) Walker’s touchdown was pretty rough. Brandon Graham got sucked inside, Sydney Brown couldn’t even muster an arm tackle, and then they had a bunch of tight ends blocking out in space with Lock down near the goal line also. Gross!

17) Jalen Hurts honored Donovan McNabb with a worm burner when Goedert was wide open.
18) I hate that fucking bubble screen more than anything in this world. DeVonta Smith weighs less than I do. Why would you ever have him block on the perimeter in that fashion? Two plays later, they hit him on the move for a first down. That’s what DeVonta should be doing.
19) Couple of shite play calls aside, that was a wonderful drive to push it to 17-10. Eleven plays, 75 yards, 5:22 off the clock. They converted all three third downs, using a wrinkle off the shove on the first one. Big drive!
20) Brandon Graham with a really nice redemption sack on 3rd and 9. They lined him up as a defensive tackle on an obvious passing down and just let him get after Lock.
21) Troy Aikman pointed out Hurts going deep for Brown instead of throwing to an open Smith underneath.
22) If Big Dom gets an indefinite suspension, then the bozo who hit A.J. Brown should get the same.

23) The 4th down pass interference on James Bradberry? Dunno. He had the right hand around his waist. That’s gonna get flagged. He always seems to come out on the losing end of those tight calls.
24) Critical sequence of events after the Bradberry penalty. The Eagles got it to 3rd and 2 and Jalen Carter came up with a huge stop. It was initially ruled an incomplete pass, then Seattle took a timeout to prevent a delay of game. That allowed Nick Sirianni to challenge, the play was ruled a sack instead, and the Seahawks came out with the field goal unit instead.
The catalyst was Pete Carroll calling timeout to avoid the flag. Possible four-point swing right there.
25) Not a great effort from Quez Watkins, who was being grabbed on the interception. That ball also didn’t have to be thrown. Don’t need a deep shot there. You’re moving the ball, giving the defense some rest, eating some clock and being methodical. That just seemed like a high-risk type of decision. Even if he targeted Brown or Smith on that one I wouldn’t have liked it.
26) The defense really bailed out Hurts and Quez both with a three and out in response to the pick. What a turn of events that was.
27) Crazy catch at the end there from DK Metcalf. That went from almost being a Bradberry pick to an improbable grab instead.
28) Bradberry just got cooked on the touchdown. Great catch from Smith-Njigba. Those two big throws up the sideline were the killers on that drive, and outside of a Nick Morrow PBU, nobody on the defense made a big play when the Eagles needed it the most. We can debate this week whether or not Matt Patricia should have given him some safety help on that last one, but the pass rush wasn’t getting home and there’s a lot of blame to go around.
