Darius Slay Wants You to Know that he Played a Great Individual Game in Dallas

Here’s a 40-second clip from Darius Slay’s most recent YouTube show:

I went through and listened to the entirety of this segment (shared below), and he continues by telling everyone that he’s not trash. He asks fans to “simmer down” but reiterates that he will take accountability if he “plays like ass.”

But yeah, we did the story on the doofus bringing his “Fire Sean Desai” sign and trash cans to the NovaCare Complex. You have a laugh and/or call the guy an idiot for showing up in drug dealer shorts in mid-December. But nobody really gives a shit, or should give a shit what this singular protester has to say. That’s the first consideration, that this is just one dweeb who doesn’t speak for the fan base as a whole.

The second thing is that nobody cares how well Slay played in a lopsided loss to a division rival. Did he have a good game in Dallas? Yes. That is a fact check: true. He was not the reason why they lost, and sometimes the criticism he gets is over the top, but nobody needs or wants to hear you come out and tell everyone that you were awesome while the rest of the team sucked. Nobody wants to hear about your “damn near perfect game,” which insinuates that the other 10 guys on the field at any given moment were total butt.

Especially corny is the fact that Darius Slay is an Eagles captain. There are nine captains, which is probably too many, but he is a captain nonetheless. How many team leaders do you know who go on their fucking YouTube show and talk about their great individual performances? Imagine Brian Dawkins coming out in 2004, after the Eagles got reamed by the Steelers, and saying “well Hines Ward owned us, but I had an interception and played a great game!” Pigs would fly over a frozen hell before something like that ever happened.

Slay is a good player and sometimes this quirky stuff is blown out of proportion, but this is one of those times where you have to read the room.
