Bucs vs. Jaguars Final Injury Report: 1 Ruled Out, 1 Worrisome Addition

All week, signs seemed to be pointing toward the Bucs being healthier than they’ve been since early on in the season. And based off the final injury report ahead of Sunday’s Week 16 clash against the Jaguars at Raymond James Stadium, that does seem to be the case.

However, there was one player ruled out and one player added to the injury report Friday afternoon. Rookie wide receiver Rakim Jarrett will miss the Christmas Eve game against Jacksonville, while Antoine Winfield Jr. was a troubling addition to the report with a calf injury.

Jarrett, an undrafted free agent, is currently in his 21-day practice window after being activated from injured reserve this week. Despite logging full participation in practice all week, he will not return to action for the first time since suffering a quadriceps injury in a Nov. 19 loss to the 49ers.

“We’re watching him a little more,” Bowles said after Friday’s practice. “We’ll watch him a little more and we’ll try to make that decision as the week goes.”

Winfield didn’t participate in Friday’s practice and was listed with a calf injury, which is something to monitor throughout the weekend. It goes without saying that a limited or missing Antoine Winfield Jr. is a massive concern for the Bucs, as he has been the best and most consistent player on their defense this year. He’s been playing at an All-Pro level, already posting 107 tackles (65 solo), four sacks, five forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, two interceptions and a career-high 11 passes defensed.

Outside of Jarrett and Winfield, Tampa Bay only has one other player with an injury designation heading into the weekend. Will Gholston (knee/ankle), who missed last week’s game against the Packers, was a limited participant in practice all week and is questionable for Sunday’s contest against the Jaguars.

Which Jaguars Quarterback Will The Bucs See?

One of this game’s main storylines throughout this week has been the health of Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Lawrence sustained an ankle injury a few weeks ago and has played through it, but he also entered concussion protocol following Jacksonville’s Sunday night loss to Baltimore last week. That has led many to believe that Lawrence is set to miss a game for the first time in his football career, even dating back to high school.

In fact, on Thursday night, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that the Jaguars were likely to play without their franchise quarterback this weekend.

But there was a new wrinkle to the story on Friday, as Lawrence was able to practice for the first time all week. He was officially listed as a limited participant and will carry a “questionable” tag into the weekend. He is still in concussion protocol and head coach Doug Pederson said Friday that his quarterback will have to clear protocol before the team departs for Tampa on Saturday. Otherwise, Lawrence won’t travel and will miss the game.

If Lawrence is unable to play, veteran backup C.J. Beathard would start in his place.
