Bucs vs. Colts Wednesday Injury Report: Another Defensive Starter Out

It was tougher to decipher what was going on during Wednesday’s practice for the Bucs. Due to wind and rain, the Bucs practiced inside. They also wore just t-shirts without helmets or shoulder pads, so in other words it was a walk through.

Heading into practice, the players everybody wanted to know about was inside linebacker Lavonte David and cornerbacks Carlton Davis and Jamel Dean. Because of the nature of the walkthrough, we saw the likes of David and Davis because they were with their teammates, but we didn’t really know how much they were participating. Dean was a little easier to figure out as we didn’t see him at all.

What we didn’t realize at the time was that another starter did not end up participating, and the injury sounded like it’s a big factor. Devin White was seen at practice, but by the looks of it he didn’t participate.

After practice Todd Bowles had mentioned that many players wouldn’t have been able to go this week if the game was earlier.

“If there was a game today, probably Lavonte [David], Devin [White] and [Jamel] Dean, I would say would not have played,” Bowles said. “We’ll see how the week goes with their injuries.”

White, David and Dean were all out of practice. The good news is that Carlton Davis was limited, so that at least gives the Bucs some flexibility at corner.

Also in the secondary, safety Ryan Neal practiced in full. He still has a wrap over his hand because of a thumb injury. Though Neal has drawn the ire of Bucs fans, his presence helps open up room for the Bucs to deploy Dee Delaney in various ways, whether it be a corner or safety.
