On Saturday the Bucs elevated two players from their practice squad to the 53-man active roster due to injuries on defense. Tampa Bay elevated linebacker J.J. Russell for the second straight week.
Starting inside linebacker Devin White is dealing with a groin injury, but is expected to play when the Bucs take on the Saints in New Orleans in Week 4. Reserve inside linebacker SirVocea Dennis is out for the third straight game with a hamstring injury.
The Bucs are also dealing with injuries in the secondary. Starting cornerback Jamel Dean injured his shoulder in a 25-11 loss to the Eagles on Monday Night Football. Rookie reserve cornerback Derrek Pitts is also out due to a hamstring injury. As a result, Tampa Bay has elevated rookie cornerback Keenan Isaac from the practice squad for Sunday’s game at New Orleans.
Cornerback Carlton Davis III is expected to make his return to the starting lineup on Sunday from a toe injury that kept him out of the last two games. Zyon McCollum will start his third consecutive game, this time for Dean, while rookie Christian Izien starts in the slot as the nickelback.
