‘Best daddy on the planet’ – UFC legend Conor McGregor shocks son by picking him up from school in new slippers before heading to Las Vegas to film ‘The Ultimate Fighter’

UFC legend Conor McGregor showed fans his softer side ahead of his eagerly anticipated return to the octagon this year.

‘Notorious’ is the biggest star in MMA history after a decade of knocking people out, winning UFC titles and verbally dismantling his opponents before even stepping into the cage.

However, he’s also a father of three and has spent more time than ever with his kids since suffering a grim leg injury that has kept him away from the octagon since July 2021.

The McGregor clan spent the summer of 2022 sailing around the world on their Lamborghini yacht and enjoying the fruits of the former dual-weight UFC champion’s labour.

Now, they are back in Ireland and ‘Mystic Mac’ is getting in some much-needed family time before he flies out to Las Vegas to film the latest season of MMA reality show The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) alongside his next opponent, Michael Chandler.

The 34-year-old hilariously wore a pair of cartoon slippers to pick up his son, Conor Jr, from school on Tuesday.

McGregor uploaded a video of the five-year-old reacting to his funny footwear choice on social media and captioned the post: “Being a cool dad is awesome.”

“In slippers picking up Junior. I’m going to surprise him,” he said before his shocked son sees him and they walk hand-in-hand away from school while giggling about his choice of footwear.

Dee Devlin, the mother of McGregor’s three children, loved the heart-warming video, she wrote: “The best daddy on the [planet]! we love you so much.”

As did many of McGregor’s 45.9M Instagram followers, including his long-time coach, John Kavanagh, and UFC fighter Jai Herbert, who reacted to the video with laughing emojis.

A few days later, the family were on the private jet and heading to Las Vegas to begin on TUF, which usually takes six weeks to film. It will see McGregor and Chandler square off as opposing coaches of fighters who are competing for a UFC contract.

It will air between May and August before the McGregor fights ‘Iron’.

“On my way to Vegas to coach a few kids to a UFC contract. A blessing. A privilege. An honour. My pleasure. Welcome to ‘UFC with the Mac,’” he wrote alongside images of the family trip.
