Day 3 at Melbourne Park marks the start of second-round Australian Open action, with top seeds Rafael Nadal and Iga Swiatek both taking the court. A hot 3-0 start to my tournament best bets on Day 1 included Nadal, who took care of up-and-coming Brit Jack Draper in 4 sets. I’m targeting a different left-hander on Wednesday in the form of Denis Shapovalov, who reached the quarterfinals Down Under last year before falling to Nadal in 5 sets.
Let’s take a look at the best bets to be made on the Day 3 schedule.

Parlay: Denis Shapovalov ML over Taro Daniel and Jiri Lehecka ML over Christopher Eubanks (-133)
Lehecka was an easy winner for me on Monday and I am going right back to the well. The in-form Czech destroyed Borna Coric 6-3, 6-3, 6-3 and now has an easier matchup on his hands with Eubanks. A former Georgia Tech star, the 26-year-old is outside the top 100 of the rankings and had been 1-6 lifetime in Grand Slam main draws prior to this fortnight. As for Shapovalov vs Daniel, that should be straightforward. Shapovalov is 2-0 in the head-to-head series and 5-0 in total sets. Daniel has been past the second round of a slam only once in his entire decade-long career and there is no reason to think he will do it again.
Lin Zhu +4 games over Jil Teichmann (-115)
This is a great opportunity for Zhu, who won her only previous matchup with Teichmann and heads into this one in stellar form. The 28-year-old from China is 3-2 so far this season with a win over Venus Williams and losses only to Coco Gauff and former Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin. She is also more comfortable on hard courts than Teichmann. Zhu has earned a whopping 309 of her 368 career victories on the hard stuff, whereas 149 of Teichmann’s 253 wins have come on clay. The Swiss compiled a disappointing 11-14 record on hard courts in 2022, so I would actually sprinkle some on Zhu to win outright at +199 on the money line.
Marton Fucsovics ML over Lloyd Harris (+100)
Both of these guys are coming off tough five-setters in the first round, so physicality will likely be a huge factor on Wednesday. Whereas Fucsovics is one of the fittest players on tour, Harris has played sparingly over the past year because of injuries. The South African has plunged to #186 in the world and prior to Monday he had not won a match on the main tour since April of 2022. It should also be noted that Fucsovics leads the head-to-head series 3-2 and has won 3 of their last 4 encounters — including each of the last 2 on outdoor hard courts.
