UFC boss Dana White REFUSES to hand Francis Ngannou heavyweight title after UFC 270 win and then refuses to attend press conference

It appears as though Dana White wasn’t happy with the result of the main event at UFC 270.

Francis Ngannou defeated Cyril Gane via unanimous decision thanks to some excellent ground work that virtually nobody saw coming.

Francis Ngannou is the new, undisputed, UFC heavyweight champion and Mick Maynard put the belt on him

UFC boss White normally always presents the title belt to the victor of a championship fight in UFC and he did so earlier in the night when Deiveson Figueiredo defeated Brandon Moreno for the UFC flyweight title.

However, he did not present the undisputed heavyweight title to Ngannou. Mick Maynard, vice president of talent relations for UFC, was the man to wrap the belt around Ngannou instead and the champion isn’t sure why.

“I don’t know [why that happened], you have to ask him,” Ngannou said at the post-fight press conference.

“I did not have anything to do about that. I think that was their decision.

“I’m about to ask about that too.”

Furthermore, according to Mike Bohn, White chose to skip the post-event press conference, another duty he rarely, if ever misses.

Things have become difficult between White and Ngannou largely because of The Predator’s desired to be paid more. HIs contract is up this year, but because he is the champion, there is a clause in his contract that says he is tied to the UFC for another year.

Renegotiating thus far has not gone well between Ngannou and White. Ngannou wants to box as well as stay in the UFC with the company perhaps co-promoting his fights – potentially with Tyson Fury – the same way they did with Conor McGregor.

Ngannou is not happy with his UFC negotiations and he has a strained relationship with the UFC boss

Speaking ahead of UFC 270, White downplayed the problems between the pair.

“I’ve been in contract drama for 20 years with people. It’s part of the business. I honestly don’t know where we’ll end up after Saturday,” White says, adding, “We’ll see how the fight goes, we’ll see what happens and I’m sure we’ll figure it out one way or another.”

“Francis and I have had our moments over the last several years. I bumped into him at dinner a few weeks ago and we had a good conversation. It was funny because we needed to talk. We needed to see each other and the universe made it happen.”

“We’ll see how these things play out. I don’t blame Francis as much as I blame the not so very smart people that surround him.”

After UFC 270, perhaps White’s actions have spoken louder than his words.
