Tyson Fury announced ‘this is the end’ of his glittering career after delivering a ‘murderous, medieval uppercut’ to beat Dillian Whyte at Wembley.
After a messy and bad-tempered start to the blockbuster bout on Saturday night, Fury produced a stunning punch to send his British rival to the canvas in the sixth round.
Fury showed his class throughout to retain his WBC world title in front of 94,000 people and there have been immediate calls for him to face the winner of Oleksandr Usyk vs Anthony Joshua 2 later this year in a huge unification clash.
But he revealed afterwards that ‘this is definitely the end of the Gypsy King’ and he was delighted to ‘go out with a bang’.
And what a bang it was.
