As if Anthony Joshua, Mahmoud Charr and Derek Chisora weren’t enough, Tyson Fury has now called out yet another opponent.
‘The Gypsy King’ is an unpredictable man, as has become clear throughout the course of his career, but his most recent move of calling out the Central Area heavyweight champion was particularly unexpected.
“Right guys, just been thinking,” Fury said on his Instagram story, “We’re in the gym and we’ve just done a mad session on Wednesday.
“I’ve won every single belt in boxing, apart from one belt and that belt is the Central Area heavyweight championship of Britain.
“So, I’m calling out whoever is the Central Area heavyweight champion, I’m calling you out. That’s my belt, I want it, I haven’t got it.
“It’s the only belt I haven’t won and I want it, so I’m coming for whoever you are, come on!”
What Fury perhaps doesn’t realise is that the current Central Area heavyweight champion – according to the BBBoC (British Boxing Board of Control) website – is Chris Healey, who has a record of 9-12, having lost eight of his last nine fights.
This all comes after Fury’s potential ‘Battle of Britain’ clash with Joshua fell through, but he is still scheduled to box on December 3.
Derek Chisora is the frontrunner to fight Fury next in a trilogy bout.
The pair have met twice previously, with ‘The Gypsy King’ winning by unanimous decision back into 2011 and then following up with a tenth-round stoppage victory in 2014.
With that being said, the Chisora trilogy bout is as of yet unconfirmed and it appears the 37-year-old former WBA ‘regular’ champion, Charr, is another option being considered by team Fury.
After the negotiations with Joshua collapsed, Fury had initially offered Charr the fight, who has made a number of call-out videos for ‘The Gypsy King’ including his most recent one which saw him walking with a lion.
