Open up your bank account and scream “Let’s Ride!”
Ok maybe your account doesn’t quite look like Russell Wilson‘s right now. The dude just got paid and Denver fans could not be happier about how things have progressed in this last year from Drew Lock.
Breaking: Broncos and Russell Wilson just reached agreement on a five-year, $245 million contract extension that includes $165 million guaranteed, sources tell ESPN.
Deal now ties Wilson to Denver for seven total years and $296 million. Another massive QB deal in the books. pic.twitter.com/uk6yelOL3j

For 2022 redraft leagues, he’s one of our favorite QBs to take late with real upside. He elevates all the other Broncos’ options:
- Javonte Williams– Jason mentioned him as his fantasy MVP on Thursday’s show.
- Courtland Sutton– One of Mike’s My Guys, Sutton is one of the most drafted players by the FootClan this draft season. He’s a bonafide WR1 who could finish with double-digit receiving TDs.
- Jerry Jeudy– He was “drafted to be great” for a reason and now we get to see. He’s been more efficient on deep throws than Sutton the last two years and those juicy moon balls from Russ could go his way.
- Albert Okwuegbunam– With Greg Dulcich starting the year on the PUP list, Albert O could be a valid streamer within the first
He’s being drafted at his floor (QB9) despite the fact he’s finished as a QB1 every year of his career before getting injured in 2021. He’s an efficiency monster with a career TD rate of 6.2 percent. But what if Nathaniel Hackett truly lets Russ cook however he wants?
As the Packers OC, Green Bay averaged 35 pass attempts per game. Pete Carroll only allowed Russ to hit that mark in 25% of his career games. In those games where Russ average 35+ pass attempts, he’s averaging 280 & 2… that’s almost 50 more yards a game than his career average. 35 passing TDs and 300+ rushing yards feel well within range even at this stage of his career. He’s safe but the ceiling is there to finish inside the top-5 at the position.
In terms of his dynasty outlook, this all but assures that Wilson will finish his career in Denver. He’s only 34 years old so there is still good football ahead of him on a great team with elite weapons. He’s still a top-8 dynasty QB in our dynasty startup rankings although he tends to fall later because of his age. You likely won’t be able to trade for him because the fantasy manager who has him is stoked with the extension.
