Rhys was asked about the play after the game and said it’s a play he’ll make again:

I think tonight was the final straw that broke the Phillies fan’s back. I’ve had enough of Rhys Hoskins. His most memorable moment in the postseason thus far has been striking out twice in one inning. He’s now 1-18 at the plate. I’d call him a black hole, but that would be an insult to black holes. I mean look at the first baseman on every World Series contender left in the playoffs. Imagine adding Matt Olson, Freddie Freeman, Ty France, or Anthony Rizzo in this lineup. He’s a liability not only in the lineup but on the field. Ricky Bo said it best “most, if not all first baseman in the league make that play”:

He’s not wrong about every first baseman in the NL:

Rhys Hoskins graded out at minus-6 Outs Above Average at first base this season.

That ranked last among all NL first basemen who played at least 1,000 innings at first.
