Racing League 2022 – Information and odds: The East favourites to scoop £2m prize money as Frankie Dettori leads team Wales & The West

The Racing League has returned after kicking off proceedings at Doncaster last Thursday for the (almost) weekly reimagined approach to racing.

Team talkSPORT won last year but this year seven teams split into regions instead and compete across six events in the chase for £2m in prize money.

The seven teams are divided into: Scotland, The North, Ireland, Yorkshire, Wales & The West, The East and London & The South.

Jockeys include Frankie Dettori, Tom Marquand, Hayley Turner, Marco Ghiani, Jamie Spencer and many more top jockeys.

Each team has a captain who has selected, via a draft, a team of jockeys to represent them.

The idea is to generate more interest in horse racing growing the wonderful sport so you can back teams rather than individuals and each team have a plethora of trainers to hand pick their competitors.

Two horses from each team can line up across all races to give punters and racing fans 14 horses to choose from in every single race.

Seven races are held at each event/meeting and range in class but there are some prolific winners involved across the board.

Doncaster’s results have already been totted up to give London & The South a commanding lead for manager and racing presenter Matt Chapman.

Sean Levey got the first win on board System (9-1) before bagging a second place, another winner in the third, and made it a treble on the day with the penultimate race on yet another 9/1 horse.

Chapman’s team also won the last race courtesy of Pledge Of Honour under Nicola Currie and looked a strong force, but next up is the all-weather at Lingfield which can produce big shocks.

Rupert Bell was successful last year in the inaugural Racing League for team talkSPORT and manages The East this year.

That success makes his side, fronted by Hayley Turner and prominent riders Jack Mitchell, Luke Morris, Ray Dawson, Cameron Noble, Grace McEntee and Keiran Shoemark the bookies favourites, just ahead of Ireland.

Dettori rides for team Wales & The West managed by trainer Jamie Osborne, who have 16 trainers to choose from and look the pick of the teams at this early stage.
