Preseason Week 2 Most Impressive: Bucs vs. Titans

The Bucs traveled to Tennessee for their second of three preseason games and had a disappointing showing against the Titans. Not only did Tampa Bay lose, but the overall play of the team was pretty poor all around. However, there were a few bright spots on the team.

Here were the most impressive players from the 13-3 loss to Tennessee on Saturday night:

Bucs Pass Rush

Several Bucs pass rushers had solid games, creating consistent pressure throughout the game. Pat O’Connor, Deadrin Senat, Andre Anthony, Jordan Young and Olakunle Fatukasi combined for four sacks on the day. Joe Tryon-Shoyinka added consistent pass rush in the first half as well. O’Connor was especially disruptive, often operating in the Titans backfield as both a pass rusher and in run defense. The pass rush had Titans quarterbacks Mailk Willis and Logan Woodside scrambling out of the pocket in an attempt to extend plays.

ILB Olakunle Fatukasi

Speaking of Fatukasi, he was downright dominant throughout the game. He contributed to two sacks, had nine tackles (two for a loss) and two quarterback hits. Fatukasi was consistently harassing Titans quarterback Malik Willis. He also helped the Bucs run defense hold Titans running backs to less than 3.5 yards per carry.

K Ryan Succop

Succop did not get many opportunities in the game due to inept offensive play. But on his lone field goal try, he hit from 52 yards. Succop, whose game is predicated on being deadly accurate from inside 45 yards, showed range on the kick. That could help him hold onto Tampa Bay’s kicking job for another year.

CB Don Gardner

Gardner contributed with an interception on the first play of the fourth quarter on a pass intended for wide receiver Treylon Burks. Gardner had Burks in man coverage on a deep nine route and got his head around to track the underthrown pass right into his hands.

CB Dee Delaney

Delaney finished the game with four combined tackles and a pass defensed. But he really showed up in coverage, with several good reps preventing the Titans offense from moving the ball in the air.
