Is this the week we finally see the Eagles tested? It hasn’t happened yet. I’ve been waiting all year to cast off this team as fools’ gold and I’ve yet to be proven right. The Cowboys (+6.5) come to town on what will likely be Cooper Rush’s last start. Philadelphia has arguably the best rushing offense in the league while Dallas is 3rd overall in scoring defense (14.4PPG). Dallas will sell out to stop the run and it will likely be on Jalen Hurts’ arm to win this game.
Let’s see if we can find some player props in the NFC East showdown.
Jalen Hurts Over 32.5 passing attempts (-102)
Line available on Fanduel Sportsbook at the time of publishing.
I mentioned this briefly in the opening rundown that Hurts is going to be asked to step up with his arm in this game. Dallas will sell out to stop the Philadelphia rush attack, including assigning a spy safety to trail Hurts around the field. That will leave mismatches in the secondary and it’s on Hurts to recognize this and get the ball down the field. Dallas is allowing 37.2 pass attempts per game to opposing QBs and much of this season Hurts has not HAD to pass the ball. He’s hit this number in 2/5 games this season, but with the rain in Week 4 vs Jax, I consider this really 2 of 4 games. The Cowboys are easily the toughest defense the Eagles have faced, and we will get a true test of what this Philly team can be. Hurts has hit this number in both starts against Dallas in his career. 1U on Hurts.
Michael Gallup Under 39.5 receiving yards (-113)
Line available on FanDuel Sportsbook at the time of publishing.
Gallup has been back these last 2 weeks and is still finding his rhythm with Cooper Rush. He did exceed this line last week, but 27 of his 44 yards came on 1 reception. The other 3 tallied only 17 yards. To make matters worse, his snaps on pass plays decreased to just 17 on the entire game. The Cowboys have effectively decided to rebrand this team as one that successfully runs the ball and plays outstanding defense. That leaves little upside for Gallup, who is low man on a totem pole of CeeDee Lamb, Tony Pollard and Dalton Schultz, with Noah Brown breathing down his neck. Darius Slay is a handful for any WR, but with Gallup still getting into game shape this could be a long night for him. This is 1U for me.
