Wednesday features just 3 NHL games, but that doesn’t mean we can’t make it a profitable night. In fact we can do so in a big way with our mega parlay. Three games is all we need to piece together our favorite plays, all of which have plus-money. Two of tonight’s matchups are also featured games on TNT. Of course we’ll be targeting both of them, and we’re capping off our night with an upset in Canada.
Before we dive in, be sure to check out our NHL picks for today’s action.
Ottawa Senators -1.5 (+135) over Montreal Canadiens
While we’re capping the night off in Canada, that’s also where we’re getting started. The Senators are coming off of a convincing win over the Anaheim Ducks on Monday night. While that may not be much to write home about, shutting out any team in the NHL is impressive. They may not be able to pull that off again tonight, but it wouldn’t be out of the question. The Canadiens scored just 1 goal in their last game, despite winning the game 2-1 in a shootout.
It will likely be just as difficult for them to find the back of the net if Cole Caufield is unable to play in tonight’s matchup. He exited with an upper body injury after just over 8 minutes of ice time on Monday night. Although he’s just 21 years old, the Canadiens run through Caufield. The Sens were also able to handle the Ducks with ease without Brady Tkachuk contributing in the box score. That’s very rare for Ottawa, and he has 4 points in his last 2 games against Montreal. He should continue that trend en route to another Sens win tonight.
Minnesota Wild -1.5 (+115) over Detroit Red Wings
We’re heading just slightly south of the Canadian border to Minnesota for our next matchup. This will be the first of the featured doubleheader of TNT, and the Red Wings will likely wish it wasn’t. They’ll be one the second night of a back-to-back after having been in Detroit last night to take on the Carolina Hurricanes. That’s a tough opponent as well, which is why they had starting goaltender Vile Husso in net. With that in mind, backup Alex Nedeljkovic between the pipes.
He was the reason the Wings went and got Husso during the offseason, as they were allowing the 2nd-most goals per game last year. He’s been just as poor this season with his .880 save percentage. That’s a massive drop-off from Husso’s .916 percent. Detroit will have to provide him plenty of support, but it’s unlikely they’ll be able to do so. The Wild are coming off of a win in which they held Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers to just a single goal. That marked back-to-back wins for Minnesota, the first of which was in shutout fashion. With the Wings traveling in on tired skates, expect a convincing win for the home team.

Vancouver Canucks ML (+140) over Calgary Flames
Now it’s time to head back north for the nightcap of the TNT doubleheader. The Canucks and Flames have been 2 of the most inconsistent teams so far this season, and this game should be much more even priced. However, the discrepancy provides value with Vancouver. The Flames have been fizzling out recently, as they’ve now lost 3 straight. They were the victims of that aforementioned Canadiens win in a shootout.
That means they were able to produce just 1 goal on home ice against a mediocre-at-best Montreal team. The first of this 3-game losing streak was even worse. The Flames were doused by a bad Columbus Blue Jackets squad, as they again only scored a single goal. The Jackets are the 2nd-worst goaltending team in the NHL, which speaks volumes to Calgary’s struggles. To make matters worse, Elias Lindholm was scratched in their most recent game. Even if he is able to go, the Canucks still have what it takes with guys like Quinn Hughes and J.T. Miller to pull off this upset.
