The NHL season has reached the midway point and teams being the second-half push for playoff positioning. There are four games scheduled for February 13 with the Colorado Avalanche at Dallas Stars headlining the action.
Colorado Avalanche versus Dallas Stars
The Colorado Avalanche head into play with the top record in the Western Conference. They have won five of their last six games and are +31 on the Power Ranking Indicator and “burning hot down” on the Team Strength Oscillator. The Stars are 5th in the Central Division and are 4-2 over their last six. Dallas has been involved in games “over” the line in five of their last six, while the Avalanche have been trending in games “under”, making the over/under bet and iffy play this game. Colorado has been extremely stable, at +22 on the Team Volatility Oscillator. The Score Predictor has Dallas by a 3-2 score with 63 percent confidence, but I like Colorado on the road by the same margin.
Buffalo Sabres versus Montreal Canadiens
The bottom two teams in the Atlantic Division face off. Buffalo has a +5 to 0 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator and “ice cold down” versus “dead” on the Team Strength Oscillator. The Sabres are 2-4 over their last six and have been trending in games equally over and under the line during that time. Montreal has lost their last six and has been involved in games over the line in most contests. The Canadiens are given a 3-2 margin of victory with 69 percent confidence on the Score Predictor. Look for Montreal to end their losing skid in a game going “over” the line.
Pittsburgh Penguins versus New Jersey Devils
The Penguins enter third in the Metropolitan Division and face the last-place Devils. Pittsburgh is “ice cold” up versus “dead up” and has a +19 to +2 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator. Pittsburgh is 2-4 over their last six and New Jersey is 1-5 over the same period. The Devils been involved in games over the line in three of their last six and the Penguins have been over it four of their last six. The Score Predictor likes Pittsburgh by a 3-2 score with 53 percent confidence. I am more confident that the Penguins will win in a game going “over” the line.
Ottawa Senators versus Washington Capitals
Ottawa is third from the bottom in the Atlantic Division and Washington is in the middle of the Metropolitan Division. Ottawa is 3-3 over their last six and is “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator and +6 on the Power Ranking Indicator. Washington is +20 on the Power Ranking Indicator despite a 2-4 stretch that has them “ice cold down” on the Team Strength Oscillator. The Score Predictor likes Washington by a 4-3 score with 34 percent confidence. Both teams are showing moderate stability on the Team Volatility Oscillator. I like Washington to come away with a win, perhaps in overtime but avoid the over/under bet.
