Who’s the favorite to win the NHL 2022-23 Stanley Cup?
The Colorado Avalanche are bookies’ favorite to win the Stanley Cup for a second straight season. The team has been kept nearly intact with only a few alterations to it.
Goalie Darcy Kuemper (2.51 GAA, .921 SV%) left the Avs for the Washington Capitals as a free agent. Colorado general manager Joe Sakic plans to replace Kuemper with goalie Alexandar Georgiev (2.92 GAA, .898 SV%) and Pavel Francouz (2.54 GAA, .916 SV%). The idea is to split time between the two shot-stoppers.
The Avs will get plenty of backing from bookies. Of course, Canadian teams such as the Toronto Maple Leafs will get love too. The Maple Leafs are always hyped at the start of the season, but playoff runs have been few and far between for Toronto over the years.
A Canadian team has not won the NHL Stanley Cup Finals since 1992-93. The Montreal Canadians were the last club to do it.
