MLB Picks April 24: Dodgers and Padres Battle in NL West

The MLB season has reached its third week and teams are beginning to find their footing. There is a full slate of games for April 24. We will take a look at four of them with the Dodgers and Padres the featured contest.

Los Angeles Dodgers versus San Diego Padres

Both teams enter play “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator. The Padres have a +29 to +20 edge on the Power Ranking Indicator. Clayton Kershaw is set to pitch for the Dodgers and Sean Manaea is scheduled to get the ball for the Padres. The Score Predictor has the Dodgers winning by a 5-1 score with 73 percent confidence. Cleveland Guardians versus New York Yankees

The Yankees enter this home game “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator and +12 on the Power Ranking Indicator. The Indians are “burning hot” and +14, respectively. Cleveland is 3-3 over their last six games and the Yankees are 4-2 during the same stretch. The Score Predictor likes the Guardians by a 5-3 margin with 67 percent confidence. Both teams have been relatively stable at +2 on the Team Volatility Oscillator. I like the Cleveland in a road upset in a game going “over” the line.

San Francisco Giants versus Washington Nationals

Washington heads into this home contest “average down” on the Team Strength Oscillator and +21 on the Power Ranking Indicator. This compares to +18 and “average up” for the Giants. Neither team has decided on their starting pitcher. The Teams have combined for games “over” the line in five or their last six games. The Score Predictor likes the Giants in a 9-3 blowout win with 70 percent confidence. Note that neither team has been particularly stable early on, coming in at 0 and +1 on the Team Volatility Oscillator. I like the Giants in a game going “over” the line.

Chicago White Sox versus Minnesota Twins

In this AL Central battle, the Twins host the White Sox.  Both teams are “ice cold down” and the White Sox have a +9 to +5 edge on the Power Ranking Indicator. Chicago has been in games “over” the line in only one of the last four, while the  Twins have been in half their games “over” the line. The Score Predictor likes Chicago by a 6-4 score, but with only 32 percent confidence. The teams have been consistently performing with respect to the favorite/underdog status. I like the Twins at home but avoid the “over/under”.
