King George VI Chase Day tips at Kempton: Bravemansgame and Hitman lead the way ahead of Noble Yeats and Envoi Allen

The King George VI Chase goes off at 2.30pm on Boxing Day this year at Kempton Park Racecourse.

The huge Grade 1 is the aim for many big trainers with top-class three milers at their disposal.

12.45: Long Walk Hurdle – Paisley Park 4/1

The Long Walk Hurdle has been moved to Boxing Day following the cold snap that hit the UK at the start of December and resulted in numerous abandonments, including Ascot’s Grade 1.

Champ is the big favourite for this but only marginally at this early stage to Miranda, who is rated 15lb lower than the Nicky Henderson star.

But Paisley Park looks like the best value here, who often finds that little bit more.

Ultimately, Paisley Park at 4/1 is ideal, given the way the pair are often left battling it out to the line.

Champ won by a neck in the Long Distance Hurdle at Newbury and the Andrew Gemmell-trained horse might just relish the Kempton track more as well.

1.55: Christmas Hurdle – Constitution Hill 1/5

The odds-on favourite has shown he is the real deal and now off a gigantic rating of 173 will be under the microscope once more from all viewers.

The Henderson-trained great made a seasonal debut to be stunned at with an easy victory at Newcastle beating Epatante by 12 lengths.

Those two will face-off again this Christmas and it’s surely only going to go the way of the five-year-old.

2.30: King George VI Chase – Bravemansgame 6/5 & Envoi Allen 7/1 each-way

The Paul Nicholls team have been aiming Bravemansgame and preparing their star for this 3m trip for a while and following on from his Grade 2 victory looks set to take this challenge on well.

He’s back up to the same mark he took on at Aintree in April but subsequently came last, where he was never travelling that day.

In the summer, the now 161-rated went for wind surgery which has clearly done the trick as that victory at Wetherby was impressive and he can improve from that this time.

He’s been waited with, fresh and prepared and should be in great fettle to take on a field of great chasers.

Stablemate Hitman looks capable too, but will probably need the experience first and to fill out more – he warrants respect of course, but the six-year-old will have a lot of work to do to beat the course and distance winner.

It bodes well that Bravemansgame won over C&D in the Kauto Star Novices’ Chase in 2021, beating Ahoy Senor by over seven lengths with others not taken to Kempton before.

L’Homme Presse is 4/1 on talkSPORT BET currently, cut from 5’s before his win in a Grade 3 at Newcastle, but that wasn’t a big indicator he can cope with a 6lb rise and then also take on the likes of Bravemansgame.

Envoi Allen returned to winning ways beating Kemboy, Conflated and Galvin at Down Royal’s Champion Chase in November and that recent form is enough to suggest the eight-year-old can make a decent go of things in the King George.

At 7/1, the Henry De Bromhead-trained horse looks great value at this stage for an each-way bet on top of a straight bet on the favourite.

That was Envoi’s first time over 3m and it’s a huge indicator of his potential over this new distance as beating those rivals is no easy task.

That form by itself should be enough to tempt many into backing the Cheveley Park horse.

Robbie Power spoke to Horse Racing Betting about his fancies for the King George VI Chase: “Envoi Allen has a great chance of success there. He was very good when he won at Down Royal, he’s a horse with a lot of pace which you need around Kempton.

“Bravemansgame is the deserved favourite, his form around Kempton is very good and he’s the one they all have to beat but I thought L’Homme Presse was very impressive at Newcastle. He’s not a big horse so to carry a big weight was very good. He won with plenty up his sleeve.

“Envoi is an experienced campaigner, he had good runs over two miles last season, he was third in the Champion Chase, has plenty of pace and I think Kempton could play to his strengths. He’s definitely the overlooked horse in the King George.”
