This has been grinding my gears for some time now and today I finally had enough. Why does ACME put the sticker over the sealer and in the process ruin the freshness of the meats and cheeses? –

This makes zero sense. Before, when they didn’t have the freshness sealer, the sticky thing made sense. Now that the freshness sealer comes with every package at every deli counter at every grocery store the sticker does not need to be placed over the closey thing. It would be like buying a shirt with a security tag on it and then when you get up to the register the clerk takes the tag off and now your new shirt has a hole in it.
Apparently it’s not just ACME. Wegmans! Shoprite! Weis! Kroger! They all do it too! It’s anarchy in the deli:
Wegmans does the same crap 🤦🏻♂️

Shop rite does this too. What are we doing?!?

this is a significant and under-reported problem. Weis does it also https://t.co/xDgb0UACpM

I think this guy is on to something:
Dude!!! Almost every grocery store does this!! Grocery stores and ziplock bags are in cahoots. Customers rip the bag, next best solution our ziplock baggies. Conspiracy 101!

Big Deli and Ziploc are in cahoots!
This guy, on the other hand, can take a fucking hike:
You know it’s to deter people from opening the bag in the store right…

Listen, this is a society there are rules. Every pre-packaged turkey, ham, and cheese display is right next to the deli counter. No one is going to let some dude just chomp on some Boar’s Head while he’s waiting for #17 to be called. In this guy’s world, he wants ACME to treat plums like they are god damn razors at the drug store.
Kinkead: I’m glad Pagan is shedding light on this problem. It’s a scourge up here at the Upper Gwynedd Weis. Not only do they put the sticker over the closey thing, but they double bag the meat, which is also redundant. The other thing that nobody mentions is that you otherwise rip the sticker in half when opening the package, so if you have multiple meats and cheeses in the fridge, sometimes you gotta match the two label pieces together to decipher what’s actually in the bag. Sometimes I can’t remember if it’s black forest ham or low sodium turkey, so I gotta match the two halves like I’m Indiana Jones combining artifact pieces.
