‘He is going to pull off the upset’ – David Haye, Eddie Hearn and Derek Chisora back Dillian Whyte to win, while Dana White, Ricky Hatton and Carl Frampton are in champion’s corner

Dillian Whyte will finally get his chance to be a world champion on Saturday night – but the unbeaten and formidable Tyson Fury stands in his way.

It’s expected 94,000 people will pack into Wembley Stadium to see the domestic showdown on Saturday, which will be live on talkSPORT.

Fury and Whyte will finally fight for the WBC title at Wembley

But who will win? Unbeaten champion Fury is the strong favourite to retain his WBC title, but Whyte, 28-2, presents a danger he hasn’t faced before.

Here, talkSPORT.com asked a few famous faces from the boxing world and beyond for their predictions, beginning with John Fury’s best pal

David Haye, former two-weight world champion – Whyte win

“The type of opponent that you’d need to beat Tyson Fury, Dillian Whyte has all of those attributes. He can punch hard, he’s got cardio for days he’s got the desire and belief in himself.

“I think Whyte is going to pull off the upset. I think this is his opportunity. I think this is what he’s been waiting for.

“This happened at the right time for him and I think the fact that Tyson Fury’s so highly regarded by everybody, works in Dillian’s favour. So, I’m going with the unpopular underdog.”

Carl Frampton, former two-weight world champion – Fury win

“Dillian Whyte is a good fighter. A really credible opponent for a fight of this magnitude, he’s a good fighter. And he can punch, good left-hook, good jab, tough as well.

“I think if you build a fighter for [challenging] Tyson Fury, you’d build something close to Dillian Whyte. A shorter, more squat guy, aggressive, a hooker who is a bit wild. I think that’s Dillian Whyte isn’t it. He’s got more than a puncher’s chance, I think it’s a bit disrespectful to say that.

“He’s got bags and bags of determination and probably a bit of chip on his shoulder because people think this is going to be an easy fight. But it’s hard for me to see anything other than a Tyson Fury victory and I think he may stop him late on.”

Dereck Chisora, heavyweight and only mutual opponent of both Fury and Whyte

“I’m willing to put my house on it: I’m willing to put my house on Dillian Whyte knocking Tyson Fury out.

“Look at your faces in the studio! Tyson is my mate and I know he’s listening – Tyson, you’re going to get knocked out.

“That’s the only way he [Whyte] can win the fight.”

Johnny Nelson, former cruiserweight champion – Fury win

“You’ve got to go by form. I have to lean towards Tyson Fury on past results and past form, he’s the only one who has done everything and backed up everything he’s said and done. So, I would have to go with Tyson Fury.

“Saying that, when I’m hearing the statements saying Whyte hasn’t got a chance, I think whoever’s saying that is absolutely ridiculous.

Dillian Whyte has got every chance but he’s coming up against a man who’s unbeaten and is so far unbeatable.”

Spencer Oliver, former super bantamweight boxer – Fury win

“I think Dillian Whyte’s definitely got a chance. He’s one of those guys who has an orthodox style, he’s got long arms and he whacks with either hand, which makes him dangerous as a heavyweight.

“He’s gonna go for it early, he can’t allow Fury to get in any kind of rhythm, because if he does, he’s going to make life really difficult for Dillian Whyte.

“I expect Tyson Fury to win, but I think Dillian Whyte’s going to have his moments and I think he’s going to do better than people give him credit for.

“He’s got that punchers chance as well, which we’ve seen before when he boxed Lucas Browne, he’s massively heavy-handed and when he boxed Joseph Parker, he showed his power and he also showed great powers of recovery against Parker and weathered a few storms.”

“My prediction is I fancy Tyson Fury to win on points.”

Eddie Hearn, Matchroom Chairman – Whyte win

“He’s [Whyte] a tremendous puncher, a big strong, rugged heavyweight. Tyson Fury, coming off the Wilder fight, he was down twice in that fight.

“Wilder is a big puncher of course and Fury, at the moment on paper, is the best heavyweight in the world, but Dillian Whyte can beat all the heavyweights on his night.

“He has the equaliser as he’s a tremendous body puncher, a left hook that can turn your lights out as well.

“Fury is the favourite going into the fight, but Dillian Whyte is a live dog in that fight and a lot of it comes down to Tyson Fury’s hunger.

“He’s very hungry on Instagram, but when he comes down to it – how much do you want it?

“Dillian wants it bad, so I think he’s got a great chance.”

Simon Jordan, talkSPORT presenter – Fury win

“I can’t see Tyson losing this unless he is sloppy. John Fury said four or five months ago he didn’t want Tyson to fight Dillian Whyte because he didn’t think he could get himself up for it. John contradicted himself when he came on our show last week and said ‘he’s in the best shape of his life, I’ve never seen him better’ – of course he’s going to say that.

“Tyson has got everything. His ability to switch hit, the range, the style to the technical ability, the movement, everything to really do a number on Dillian.

“But Dillian is not there to make up the numbers. He has a chance, he has a bit more of a puncher’s chance because technically he’s better than Deontay Wilder.

“He doesn’t hit as hard as Wilder but heavyweights don’t need to hit as hard as Wilder to put Tyson down. I just think if Tyson doesn’t take this fight lightly, I’ve called him beating Whyte inside eight.

“What we saw in the second Wilder fight was Fury meet him in the middle and say ‘I’m not scared of your power. You haven’t got enough to beat me and keep me down’ and he was right.

“I don’t think Whyte has enough power, irrespective of a sweet left hook which gave Anthony Joshua a world of trouble. A more mature Dillian Whyte would have knocked out AJ on that night if he was in an experienced mode, because he really did rock him, but I think Fury will keep him at range.”

Conor Benn, welterweight – Whyte win

“Dillian Whyte definitely has a chance. You got to remember the hard fights [Fury] has had with Wilder, but then Whyte has been inactive. So it’s a hard one. It’s the heavyweights. A punch can change the game, but Fury has shown he has the punching power as well.

“Listen, when you get hit with 17 or 18 stone on your chin, you definitely know about it. It’s a tough fight for both men. I’d like to think Whyte can win but I wouldn’t be putting my money anywhere.

“I’m on the fence, I wouldn’t put a bet on this one. I could see it going to points and I think Whyte could win on points, I do. He’s robust, he’s rugged, he comes in and and takes the fight to Fury. But, Fury is a fighting man so it just makes for a great fight.”

Ricky Hatton, former two-weight world champion – Fury win

“Let’s have it right, Dillian Whyte is not going to outbox Tyson Fury, he’s not going to outspeed Tyson Fury.

“Tyson, for a giant, 6ft 10in, is so versatile. He showed in his last fight [against Deontay Wilder] and previous fights, that he can stand close and mix it up. He can box southpaw, he can box orthodox, he can box from a distance, he’s great defensively.

“So, there’s no point in Dillian going out there thinking he can outbox Tyson because he can’t. He’s got to go for the knockout and try and get that big one in. Tyson’s been on his backside a few times. Dillian will know he’s capable of landing that and beating Tyson.”

“I think it’s all about what Tyson Fury turns up.

“Tyson lately has been fighting like a 6’10’ Rocky Marciano. He wants to go to war and be in the trenches with everyone at the minute.

“For this fight, I think we’re going to see a bit of the old Tyson Fury. Distance, you know, try break Dillian down a little bit. Let the storm blow itself out a little bit and then come on in the later rounds.

“I think Dillian has got to go in there and go for the knockout because I can see him winning on points.”

Isaac Lowe, featherweight who has trained with Fury – Fury win

“I see Tyson winning inside five, maximum six rounds, but I do expect it to be a bit of a shootout.

“Even though he’s been quiet on social media, I think Dillian’s had his head down, training for the biggest fight of his life, which is only right.

“I think he’s going to go in there and give it everything, but Tyson, on his night, he’s the best in the world and he’s untouchable.

“All that matters is what mood Tyson turns up in, whether he wants to have a slug fest, go southpaw, go orthodox, box on the front foot, box on the back foot, we’ll have to see what mood he’s in.

“Hopefully George the nutritionist gives him a good breakfast and makes him happy and he’ll be ready to go.”

Joseph Parker, former WBO heavyweight champion – Fury win

“Tyson’s training camp has been great from what I’ve seen.

“Him and his team have been doing all they can and I think he’s ready for this challenge in front of him.

“I’ve predicted that Tyson can get a knockout early. But Whyte is a handful.

“I know he’s very tough and you’ve got to come game, but I don’t see him winning.”

Dana White, UFC president – Fury win

“I’ve heard a lot about Dillian Whyte, but I don’t know enough about him. I don’t want to disrespect him one way or another just because I don’t know enough, but I just don’t know if I see anybody beating Tyson Fury right now.”

Israel Adesanya, UFC middleweight champion – Fury win

“I like Tyson. I just don’t think anyone is beating him anytime soon. That guy is just a special kind of human being from what I’ve seen over the year from him, his story is phenomenal.

“He’s a different kind of beast, man. No one is beating him for a long time.”

Israel Adesanya calls Tyson Fury a ‘phenomenal human being’

Tom Aspinall, UFC heavyweight who has trained with Fury – Fury win

“I think Tyson’s going to school him.

“If anyone was going to beat Tyson it would’ve been Deontay Wilder and he’s had three attempts and failed every time, so I think he’ll school him [Whyte] with ease.”

Derek Chisora, British heavyweight who has fought both – Whyte win

“I’m willing to put my house on it: I’m willing to put my house on Dillian Whyte knocking Tyson Fury out.

“Look at your faces in the studio! Tyson is my mate and I know he’s listening – Tyson, you’re going to get knocked out.

“That’s the only way he [Whyte] can win the fight.”
