England v India live stream and team news: Hosts look to bounce back after crushing defeat in opening T20 against Hardik Pandya-inspired visitors – start time and talkSPORT coverage

Jos Buttler’s start as England’s white-ball captain couldn’t have been any worse as India thrashed the hosts in the opening T20 of the series.

The visitors won the toss, decided to bat first, and they didn’t let any of the England bowlers settle, with only Chris Jordan ending with respectable figures.

The rest of the attack were hit around the ground, and India scored 198, with Hardik Pandya’s 51 from 33 balls the highlight of the innings.

They then tore through the England top order, with Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Arshdeep Singh managing to get more from the pitch than any of the England bowlers.

But it was Pandya who was the star with the ball, proving he is a top all-rounder as he ended with figures of 4-33.

The hosts were 33-4 at one point and made it to 148 all out, so there is a lot of room for improvement in the second T20.

England v India: Team news

England decided to leave Phil Salt, David Willey and Richard Gleeson out of the first T20 on Thursday.

But given some of the bowling displays, we could see Gleeson get his first T20I and also a recall for Willey.

Meanwhile, Salt was in fine form with the bat in the Netherlands and could be handed a chance in the top four.

India have selected a totally different squad to the one that played at the Rose Bowl, with the rested Test players included.

Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah are all due back into the team as the visitors look to complete the series win.

England squad: Jos Buttler (capt, wk), Moeen Ali, Harry Brook, Sam Curran, Richard Gleeson, Chris Jordan, Liam Livingstone, Dawid Malan, Tymal Mills, Matthew Parkinson, Jason Roy, Phil Salt, Reece Topley, David Willey

India squad: Rohit Sharma (Captain), Ishan Kishan, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, Shreyas Iyer, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Rishabh Pant (wk), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Yuzvendra Chahal, Axar Patel, Ravi Bishnoi, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Avesh Khan, Harshal Patel, Umran Malik

England v India: What has been said?

England white-ball captain Jos Buttler: “We’ve been outplayed today, I thought India bowled fantastically well with the new ball, they put us under a lot of pressure and we couldn’t really get back in the game from that point.

“I thought we came back really well in the second half of their innings, we bowled with a lot of bravery, we kept trying to chase wickets and thought maybe a little bit above par, but the way they bowled at the start there, the ball swung quite consistently for the first six overs and they took early wickets.”

Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya: “The last time I played a T20 in England, I think I took 4 wickets and scored some 30 (in the series win in Bristol, 2018). So I kind of knew I was the first Indian to score fifty and take 4 wickets.

“I am enjoying my cricket right now. For me a lot of time goes into the preparation to get my body ready. The kind of break I took before this run of play I want to capitalise on the opportunities. I felt I needed that break. It is about giving your 100 per cent and when you don’t do that, there is no point playing. So I needed that break and now I am happy to be in this place right now.”
