Eddie Hearn claims Anthony Joshua’s resumé is ‘in a different league’ to unbeaten Tyson Fury’s, despite back-to-back defeats

Tyson Fury is widely considered the best heavyweight in the world, but Eddie Hearn believes Anthony Joshua has a better resumé.

Over the weekend, Fury recorded a comfortable victory over Derek Chisora to set up a potentially exciting 2023, with fights against Oleksandr Usyk and Joe Joyce on the horizon.

Fury has promised fans the biggest year of his career in 2023, as he hopes to fight both Usyk and Joyce

Meanwhile, Joshua is coming off back-to-back losses against Usyk and since then he is yet to return to the ring.

So, while it is quite clear that Fury is currently on the better trajectory of the two men, Joshua’s promoter Hearn believes that if you look back into the past, it is his man with the more impressive names on his record.

“Anthony Joshua’s résumé is in a different league to Tyson Fury’s,” Hearn told Pro Boxing Fans.

“Fury fought Wladimir Klitschko and Deontay Wilder. That’s it in terms of elite heavyweights.

“I know Dillian Whyte was a good fight, but I’m talking about top, top guys, consistently.”

In fairness, pre-2019, Joshua did go on a notable run of victories, beating Dillian Whyte, Wladimir Klitschko, Alexander Povetkin and Joseph Parker.

With that being said, Fury still has the trump card, that being his undefeated record which, following two losses against Usyk and a shock defeat at the hands of Andy Ruiz Jr, Joshua will never have.

Of course, the perfect way to settle this would be in the ring rather than by looking at resumés but, if Fury’s recent comments are anything to go by, we won’t be seeing that fight for a long time.

“Maybe that fight can happen when we’re both 55 years old, one for the golden oldies,” Fury told talkSPORT.

“I don’t know, it hasn’t happened all this time and it doesn’t even look like happening.

“He doesn’t hold any belts, I’m the champion, I’ve offered him the fight, but he didn’t take it.”
