Conor McGregor celebrates his and Israel Adesanya’s net worth as middleweight champion’s contract sees him join UFC star in highest-paid list

Conor McGregor congratulated Israel Adesanya for defending his middleweight crown and praised him for adding a few extra zeroes to his bank account.

Adesanya capped off an excellent week, which saw him sign a lucrative new contract and then beat Robert Whittaker in the main event at UFC 271.

Both McGregor and Adesanya are managed by Paradigm Sports and the Irishman tweeted in the build-up to his fight when news of his new deal emerged: “Can’t wait to see Izzy Style back in the Octagon this weekend.

“One of the true remaining high level fighter/performer athletes we have on the roster. Don’t just fight! Perform!”

He certainly did that and McGregor was pleased with the outcome.

“Congrats Paradigm Sports Management Agency! Number 1 and 2 highest paid on the UFC roster contractually. Myself and Izzy.

“An excellent feather in the cap of an amazing sports agency – Paradigm Sports!

“Congrats to all my team and a big congrats last night Israel.”

Adesanya returned the compliment on social media, joking not to ask him for money because he was broke.

Speaking to reporters, he said: “We’re on the same team when it comes to Paradigm.

“Yeah, I think I’m in second place when it comes to the highest-paid fighter on the roster, well, active right now.

“Conor is a guy I’ve always admired from the jump – from the jump, like when he fought Marcus Brimage [McGregor’s debut in the promotion].

“He’s a guy that is a performer, when he said perform, I know what he means. We know, you don’t just fight, you perform.

“Look at the last fight with Whittaker, that was a rock star concert – I gave a song and dance, the whole thing.”
