Undefeated Conor Benn will look to set up a world title clash later this year by putting on a show against Chris van Heerden this weekend.

Benn has a prefect record of 20 straight wins as a professional so far and knocked out Chris Algieri in December.

He is itching to secure a title shot soon but will first have to see off Van Heerden in Manchester on Saturday night.

The South African will be no pushover and has a record of 28 wins and two losses.

He has not fought since a no contest clash with Jaron Ennis in December 2020. 

Benn vs Van Heerden: Date and start time

The 12-round welterweight clash will be held on Saturday, April 16.

It will take place at the Manchester Arena.

The ring walks for Benn vs Van Heerden are due for around 10pm.

Conor Benn: “I’m just ready to get in there and demonstrate my boxing ability, my boxing IQ and the mindset to adapt and get through the fight.

“I think all these fighters are given the same script because it’s the same old rubbish, except Van Heerden’s a year late to the party. 

“It isn’t going to make any difference what he thinks to be honest, because if he truly believes [I’m not a boxer], he’ll soon find out. 

“Don’t you worry about that.

“I believe this year I will win a world title. I believe I can win a world title. I’m top five with the governing bodies now, so it really is only a matter of time.”
