Somehow we’ve already reached Week 12, and the fantasy playoffs are right around the corner. At this point the only roster moves that most people are allowed to make are waiver adds and drops. The most crucial decisions will be the ones you make in your lineups, as there is very little room for error now. Matchups will matter more than names, and ceiling should be prioritized over floor. Time to win at all costs. I’m going to highlight a few waiver additions, along with a couple of guys that are on flex radar and should be started with confidence.
Add or Start Demarcus Robinson – WR, Baltimore Ravens
The journeyman wide receiver who’s been thrust into relevance in Baltimore flew under the radar this week. Robinson caught nine passes for 128 yards and, outside of Mark Andrews, was the clear top target for Lamar Jackson. Robinson has had a long career where he has failed to produce, but this type of volume is brand new and seems to be legitimate. After Rashod Bateman went down, most people predicted that Mark Andrews would capture the vacated targets, but it has been Robinson that weaseled his way into the fantasy lineup conversation. I would give it one more week before I actually put him in a crucial must-win matchup, but he should absolutely be added this week.
Add or Start Latavius Murray – RB, Denver Broncos
This recommendation is about as straightforward as it gets because Latavius Murray is the only man left in Denver. The Broncos chose to finally cut ties with Melvin Gordon, and Chase Edmonds was banged up in his first healthy contest with his new team. Murray is clearly someone they trust, and he’s going to see the majority of the work in a run-heavy offense. He’s the least sexy option possible, but D’Onta Foreman has proven that volume and goal line work is the only thing that really matters for fantasy purposes, as long as a scheme works well enough. Murray has an easy path to RB2 numbers going forward, even if you will be hesitant about starting him most weeks. Everyone in your league will be bidding on him, so he’s worth an add if you saved enough FAAB cash.
Buy Jeff Wilson as an RB2 (Miami Dolphins)
The Houston Texans have been decimated at a historic rate by opposing running backs, and Jeff Wilson is about to get his turn. Wilson was the clear top dog for Mike McDaniel in the contest before Miami’s bye week, and the Texans basically set out cookies and hot cocoa for any running back who visits them. The Dolphins’ run game is a product of their high-octane passing attack, and Wilson played on over 60% of their snaps in Week 9. Raheem Mostert has always been someone who is more effective on limited touches, so Wilson should be in line to see the most volume in Week 12. Even if he feels risky, the Texans are giving up a whopping 31 points per game to opposing backs. The matchup is too good to ignore here. I’m firing him up in every lineup possible and watching his DFS price very closely.
Buy Gabe Davis as a WR2 (Buffalo Bills)
I feel like Gabe Davis has been in this column many times because he’s a tough player to fully nail down in terms of production. He has had some HUGE weeks, but he has also disappeared at times and has dropped a shockingly high number of targets recently. There is a good chance that he’s been on the fringe of many playoff-bound fantasy lineups, but he should make the cut for teams this week. The Bills visit the Lions on Thanksgiving and get another crack at playing in a dome, and the matchup is juicy. Detroit is the worst team in the league against opposing quarterbacks, and they rank in the bottom eight against opposing pass catchers. Davis is playing full-time snaps, so I’m expecting big things from the Bills’ second-best weapon. Stefon Diggs may have a career day, but Davis is going to get plenty of work as well. Start him with confidence in Week 12 as a back-end WR2.
Buy Michael Pittman as a WR2 (Indianapolis Colts)
Michael Pittman had a tough matchup last week against the Eagles, but he has an elite draw this week against the lowly Steelers secondary. Tee Higgins decimated the steel curtain last week, and Pittman has usage profile and talent to do the same thing this week. He’s seen 40 targets over his past five games, and Matt Ryan still has just enough left in the tank to pepper him with targets in a plus matchup. Given his initial draft capital and target totals, he’s probably in a lot of lineups, but if you’re a top team in your league you may have other players vying for a starting spot this week. I will personally be dialing up Pittman everywhere and kicking up my feet to watch him shred the Steelers’ defense on my way to locking up a fantasy playoff spot.
